Mughal Gardens renamed as Amrit Udyan in line with Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav theme

Mughal Gardens draw inspiration from:

• Mughal Gardens of Jammu & Kashmir.
• Taj Mahal gardens.
• Indian and Persian miniature paintings.

Design finalised by:

• Sir Edwin Lutyens.
• William Mustoe, Director of Horticulture.

Gardens never officially named Mughal Gardens

• Named so due to architectural style.
• Influenced by Persian gardens, especially Charbagh structure.
