18-Feb-2023: C.P. Radhakrishnan Sworn-in as Governor of Jharkhand

C.P. Radhakrishnan has been appointed as the new Governor of Jharkhand and was sworn in at a ceremony at the Governor House by the Acting Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court, Justice Apresh Kumar Singh.

The ceremony was attended by Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr L. Murugan, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, and Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Rabindranath Mahto.

18-Feb-2023: Ramesh Bais Sworn-in as Governor of Maharashtra

Ramesh Bais, a former Union Minister and Senior BJP leader, has taken oath as the Governor of Maharashtra. The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Raj Bhavan, Mumbai, where Bais took oath in Marathi.

The Acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court S V Gangapurwala administered the oath. The new Governor has been the seven-term BJP MP of Chhattisgarh's capital Raipur and has held several portfolios including Union Minister of State for Steel and Mines, Chemicals and Fertilizers, Information and Broadcasting, and Environment and Forests - independent charge.

Bais started his political career as a councillor of the Raipur Municipal Corporation and was later elected as a member of the Madhya Pradesh assembly in 1980. His interests include agriculture, and he has also served as the president of the Chhattisgarh Archery Olympic Association.

Bais has done extensive research and studies regarding the Rights and Security Bill for Persons with Disabilities and Transgenders. The previous Governor, Bhagat Singh Koshyari, had resigned from the post last month, and subsequently, President Draupadi Murmu appointed Bais as the Governor of Maharashtra.

8-Aug-2020: Shri G C Murmu Takes over as C&AG of India

Shri Girish Chandra Murmu assumed office as the Comptroller and Auditor General of India here today. He belongs to Indian Administrative Service of Gujrat cadre (1985 batch). Shri Murmu succeeds Shri Rajiv Mehrishi, who demitted office on Friday. Prior to this, Shri Murmu was the first Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

Honorable President Shri Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath of office and secrecy to Shri Murmu at a function in the Rashtrapati Bhavan this morning. Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, outgoing CAG Shri Rajiv Mehrishi, were among the dignitaries present at the occasion.

 After the oath ceremony, Shri Murmu came to the CAG office, where he was welcomed by the senior officers of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department. He then offered floral tributes at the statues of Mahatma Gandhi and B R Ambedkar at the CAG office.

Before moving to J&K, Shri Murmu served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Expenditure, Additional Secretary in the Department of Financial Services and Department of Revenue and then Special Secretary before serving as full-fledged Secretary of the Department of Expenditure. Before his tenure in Delhi, Shri Murmu has served on important assignments in the State Government of Gujrat. He has wide experience in administrative, economic and infrastructure fields.
