15-Mar-2021: Financial Assistance Schemes for Promotion of Arts and Culture

The Scheme for Financial Assistance for Promotion of Art and Culture consists of 05 scheme components namely (i) Repertory Grant; (ii) Financial Assistance to Cultural Organizations with National Presence; (iii) Cultural Function & Production Grant; (iv) Financial Assistance for Preservation and Development of Cultural Heritage of the Himalayas; and (v) Financial Assistance for Development of Buddhist/Tibetan Arts and Culture.

Scheme of Financial Assistance for Promotion of Art and Culture:  The scheme consists of five components. The objective of 05 scheme component is as given below: -

Repertory Grant

The objective of Repertory Grant Scheme Component is to provide financial support for all genres of performing arts activities like dramatic groups, theatre groups, music ensembles, children theatre etc. and imparting training of artists by their respective Guru on regular basis in line with Guru–Shishya Parampara. As per the scheme, support is provided to 1 Guru and maximum 18 Shishyas (in case of Theatre) and 01 Guru and 10 Shishyas (in case of Music and Dance categories).

Amount of Assistance – Guru Rs.10000/- p.m., Shishya – Rs.1000-6000/-p.m.

Cultural organizations with National Presence

The objective of this scheme component is to provide support for cultural activities at Large scale National / International level. The Quantum of assistance under this scheme is up to Rs. 5 Cr.

Cultural Function & Production Grant (CFPG)

The objective of this scheme component is to provide financial support to NGOs/ Societies/ Trusts/ Universities etc. for Seminars, Conference, Research, Workshops, Festivals, Exhibitions, Symposia, Production of Dance, Drama-Theatre, Music etc.  The maximum grants provided under CFPG is Rs.5 Lakh (Rs. 20 Lakh under exceptional circumstances)

Financial Assistance for the Preservation & Development of Cultural Heritage of the Himalayas

The objective of this scheme component is to promote and preserve the cultural heritage of the Himalayas through research, training and dissemination through audio visual programmes. The financial support is provided to the organizations in the States falling under the Himalayan Region i.e. Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.  The quantum of funding is Rs. 10.00 lakhs per year for an organization which can be increased to Rs. 30.00 lakhs in exceptional cases.

Financial Assistance for the Preservation & Development of Buddhist/Tibetan Organization

Under this scheme component financial assistance is provided to the voluntary Buddhist/Tibetan organizations including Monasteries engaged in the propagation and scientific development of Buddhist/Tibetan Cultural and tradition and research in related fields. The quantum of funding under scheme component is Rs. 30.00 lakhs per year for an organization which can be increased to 1.00 crore in exceptional cases.

19-Sep-2020: The Indian Culture Portal promotes and showcases both tangible and intangible cultural heritage of India

India is enriched with vast and diverse tangible and intangible cultural heritage in the form of Books, Dance, Music, Monuments, Sculptures, Antiquities, Languages etc. Ministry of Culture had made efforts to bring all these cultural heritage in a single e-platform, namely, Bhartiya Sanskriti Portal, launched on 10.12.2019. The content available on the Indian Culture Portal is collected from the eminent cultural organizations under the Ministry of Culture, to provide a wide public access at local, national and global levels to all the available knowledge resources through open source platform in multilingual environment. The content is being promoted by the following means:

      • Outreach through social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with a dedicated page for the portal.
      • Through links provided on the websites of all MoC organisations
      • Mobile phone apps
      • Presence on the Umang platform.
      • Direct promotion to over 30,000 schools and colleges.

The various content items are provided to the people in the form of rare books, e-books, paintings, images, audio-clips, video-clips etc. These are categorised as under:

The Indian Culture Portal promotes and showcases both the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of India through various categories mentioned above which include  manuscripts, museum artefacts, paintings, archival photographs, food and culture, musical instruments of India, archival documents, social practices, rituals, and festivals, Oral traditions and expressions and rare books, etc. These details are provided for every region of India and from Indus Valley Civilisation to the present.

The Indian Culture Portal is currently available in two languages i.e. Hindi and English.

19-Sep-2020: Ministry of Culture celebrated ‘Sankalp Parva during 28th June - 12th July, 2020 by planting saplings of 5 trees identified as herbal heritage

On the clarion call of the PM, Ministry of Culture initiated a drive of ‘Sankalp Parva” from 28th June to 12th July 2020 with objective to create clean/ healthy environment in the country. The Ministry recommended to plant saplings of five trees viz (i) Bargad (ii) Awla (iii) Peepal (iv) Ashok (v) Bel which were identified as herbal heritage of the country.  Ministry requested all its Attached, Subordinate offices and Autonomous Organizations to plant saplings in its office premises/ campus or at the surroundings wherever possible. No separate fund was allocated towards the drive by the Ministry.  Ministry through various social media gave publicity to the programme. During this drive total 11,442 saplings were planted by the officers/ officials of Ministry and its Attached, Subordinate Offices and Autonomous Organizations in office premises or wherever possible.
