Purpose: To enhance security along the India-Pakistan border
Dates of operation: 21-28 Jan 2023
Area covered: Sir Creek (marshy area) to Kutch (Gujarat) and Barmer (Rajasthan)
Objective: Thwarting any ill designs of anti-national elements
Concrete bunkers
- Concrete bunkers being constructed for the first time
- Bunkers located at Sir Creek and 'Harami Nalla' marshy area
- Rs. 50-crore fund sanctioned by Union Home Ministry
- 8 multi-storey bunkers cum observation posts to be constructed
Purpose of bunkers: Stationing BSF troops to deter Pakistani infiltration by fishermen and fishing boats
Area of concern: Constant infiltration of Pakistani fishermen and fishing boats in the Sir Creek area.
