11-Feb-2023: Exercise Tarkash underway

Exercise TARKASH is conducted by National Security Guard (NSG) and US Special Operations Forces (SOF) in Chennai. First time it includes Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) terror response.

Objective: Neutralize terrorists, rescue hostages, and deactivate chemical weapons.

CBRN weapons are classified as Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs). States and terror elements have used CBRN weapons in the past. Most recent use of CBRN in the form of a sarin gas attack was witnessed in Syria in 2017.

UN recognizes the threat of non-state actors gaining access to and using WMDs or CBRNs to international peace and security.

3-Jan-2023: Exercise Trishakti Prahar

The Indian military recently concluded its Joint training exercise in North Bengal(near ‘Siliguri’ corridor), aimed at practicing battle preparedness of security forces. Siliguri corridor or Chicken's neck is a stretch of land bordering Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal. It measures approximately 170x60 km and at the narrowest, it is about 20-22 km.

The exercise used latest weapons and equipment in a networked, integrated environment involving the Army, the IAF and CAPFs.

The exercise concluded with an Integrated Fire Power Exercise synergising the firepower assets of the Indian Armed Forces and CAPFs. It orchestrated an integrated battle scenario.

28-Jan-2023: Ex Veer Guardian concludes

Bilateral Air Exercise Veer Guardian 2023 concludes

  • Exercise between Indian Air Force (IAF) and Japan Air Self Defence Force (JASDF)
  • Maiden bilateral air exercise between the two nations
  • Conducted in Japan

IAF Contingent:

  • Participated with Su-30 MKI aircraft
  • Complemented by one IL-78 Flight Refuelling Aircraft and two C-17 Globemaster strategic airlift transport aircraft

IAF Woman Fighter Pilot:

  • First time a woman fighter pilot from IAF participated in foreign aerial wargames
  • Part of the Indian contingent in the exercise
