2-May-2023: Ministry of Housing &Urban Affairs signs MoU with RITES as Technical Support Agency for Swachhata

The introduction of Used Water Management (UWM) as a newly funded component for towns with less than 1 lakh population, has led to a paradigm shift in urban sanitation. Focusing on accelerating Solid Waste and Used Water Management, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RITES Limited, in the presence of Mr. Manoj Joshi, Secretary, MoHUA, Ms. Roopa Mishra, JS, MoHUA, Mr. R K Dayal, Executive Director-Urban Infra and Mr. Rahul Mithal, CMD, RITES, for technical assistance for Solid Waste Management (SWM) & UWM under Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0. 

The Technical Support Unit (TSU) of RITES will assist SBM-U for a period of 3 years.  Under SWM, the areas of engagement will be process standardization and engineering design of waste management facilities, like Material Recovery Facility, legacy waste etc. Under UWM, RITES will provide technical support for standards & specification in the field of sewage and faecal sludge management and reuse, engineering design and process of waste water treatment units. RITES will further assist with preparation of model tender document and procurement in the field of sewage, wastewater management and Solid Waste Management.

Under the ambit of SBM 2.0, the thrust on sustainable solid waste management has been strengthened with the overall vision of creating garbage-free cities. The MoU between MoHUA and RITES will enable states / ULBs to implement the mission initiatives efficiently providing safe and sustainable sanitation access universally, through safe containment, collection and transportation, treatment, and reuse for greater public health impact.

12-Apr-2023: Solar Energy Corporation of India gets 'Miniratna Category-I' status

Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has been accorded the status of Miniratna Category-I Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) on Monday, 10th April, 2023. A communication to this effect has been issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Govt. of India.

Incorporated in the year 2011, SECI is the primary implementing agency of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Govt. of India for Renewable Energy schemes/projects towards fulfillment of India's international commitments. Till date, SECI has awarded Renewable Energy (RE) project capacities of over 56 GW. SECI is also active in setting up of projects through its own investments as well as for other public sector entities as Project Management Consultant (PMC). SECI enjoys highest credit rating of AAA by ICRA.

Speaking on the achievement, Ms. Suman Sharma, Managing Director, SECI said that SECI has achieved this feat in a short period of time owning to its consistent performance, speed and flexibility in operations. "SECI has played a Central role in the rapid increase of RE generation capacity in the country and has contributed towards the nation's climate commitments, carbon emission reduction strategies and sustainable energy transition.” She has further reaffirmed SECI’s commitment towards achieving the Honourable Prime Minister’s ‘Panchamrita’ targets and to be an integral part in achieving the 500 GW of non-fossil fuel based capacity by 2030. 

30-Mar-2023: MoD signs contract with BEL for 13 Lynx-U2 Fire Control Systems for Indian Navy worth Rs 1,700 crore

Ministry of Defence, on March 30, 2023, signed a contract with Bharat Electronics Limited, Bangalore for procurement of 13 Lynx-U2 Fire Control Systems for Indian Navy at a total cost of over Rs 1,700 crore under Buy {Indian – IDMM (Indigenously Designed Developed and Manufactured)} category. The Lynx-U2 System is a Naval Gun Fire Control System designed and developed indigenously. It is capable of accurately tracking and engaging targets amidst sea clutter as well as air/surface targets. 

The 4th generation, completely indigenous systems, will be installed on New Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels to be built indigenously at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers and Goa Shipyard Limited. This move will generate an employment of two lakh man-days over a period of four years and encourage active participation of various Indian industries, including MSMEs, thus significantly contributing to the Government’s efforts to achieve ‘Aatmanirbharta’ in defence.
