7-Jun-2019: Nominations for National Communal Harmony Awards open till June 30, 2019

Nominations for the National Communal Harmony Awards-2019 are being invited from eligible individuals and organizations for their outstanding contribution for promotion of communal harmony and national integration. The last date for submitting the nominations is June 30, 2019. The National Communal Harmony Awards have been instituted by the National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH), an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

The National Communal Harmony Awards, 2019 consist of a citation each and a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh in the individual category and Rs. 10 lakh  in the Organization category. Individuals  who have worked in the area of national integration and communal harmony for a minimum period of ten years is eligible for consideration of the Award while Organizations will be adjudged over a five years’ work in the field of promotion of national integration and communal harmony.

Nominations may be sent to National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH), 9th Floor, ‘C’ Wing, Lok Nayak Bhavan, Khan Market, New Delhi-110003 by June 30, 2019. Details may be seen on the Foundation’s website www.nfch.nic.in or obtained from the office of the Foundation.

3-Feb-2019: National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH) is organizing a special workshop

The National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH) is organizing a special workshop for 42 Youth in the age group of 15 to 22 years, who have been victims of communal violence in the past, under the Know My India Programme in Bengaluru tomorrow. The Youth come from 6 states including Jammu & Kashmir, Manipur, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Gujarat along with 10 official mentors.

The programme is being organized in collaboration with the Art of Living Foundation. The youth are likely to interact with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar during the 5-day event.

With objectives to help the children deal with the post-traumatic stress, provide them life tools to manage their emotions and eliminate disturbing impressions of the past events, to have them experience deep relaxation and peace, give them a broader and more inclusive view of the world and how each individual is connected with the others beyond social identities, the participants, through fun interactive processes, will be taught various body-breath mechanisms, and practical tools of wisdom. The cornerstone is the powerful rhythmic breathing practice called Sudarshan Kriya, whose regular practice is known to significantly reduce stress hormones, improve clarity of mind and increase one’s happiness quotient.

Know My India Programme is a unique programme initiated by the NFCH to bring together financially assisted children of the Foundation from different States/Regions of the country to promote oneness, fraternity and national integration. The programme is all about familiarization with the environment, family life, social customs, etc. of the people living in different parts of the country; developing understanding of the common historical and cultural heritage of the country.

The NFCH is an autonomous organization under the administrative control of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The main objective of the Foundation is to provide assistance to the children / youth rendered orphan / destitute in communal, caste, ethnic or terrorist violence for their rehabilitation besides promoting communal harmony and national integration through various activities. The NFCH sponsors/conducts different activities for the promotion of communal harmony and strengthening of national integration. The Foundation under Extension Activities viz. Reach, Interfaith Interaction, Partnership and Cause Partnership takes up various activities, either independently or through State Governments/ Administrations, NGOs, educational and other institutions etc. with a view to promote communal harmony and National integration.

24-Nov-2017: Communal Harmony Flag Day observed by National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH)

The National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH) is observing the Communal Harmony Campaign and Fund Raising Week from November 19-25, 2017 and the Flag Day was celebrated today with enthusiasm and fervour. Publicity material like Flag stickers, wrappers, posters, brochures, pamphlets etc. were dispatched to about 1.24 Lakh units for appropriately marking of this significant occasion all over the country during this year including all States / UTs and covering all Ministries / Departments, Central Public Sector Undertakings, Paramilitary organizations, Universities, educational institutions, Nationalized Banks, etc. Out of these 1.03 Lakh units were educational institutions.

In response to the appeal made by the NFCH, programmes are being organized by different stakeholders including educational institutions, public sector enterprises, Government Departments/ agencies, NGOs and voluntary organizations, etc. during the Week to promote the ethos of Communal Harmony and National Integration. The Week’s last working day is being observed as the Flag Day throughout the country. This occasion is also utilized to generate financial support for destitute children affected by communal, caste, ethnic or terrorist violence.

The National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH), an autonomous organisation with the Ministry of Home Affairs, organises the Communal Harmony Campaign coinciding with the Qaumi Ekta Week and also observes the Communal Harmony Flag Day. The Foundation promotes Communal Harmony and strengthens National Integration. Under its Project ‘Assist’, the NFCH also provides financial assistance for relief and rehabilitation of children rendered orphan or destitute in communal, caste, ethnic or terrorist violence.

The Foundation has appealed for participation of every citizen from all sections of the society during the Communal Harmony Campaign Week and Flag Day for promotion of this noble cause.
