20-Nov-2018: 7th International Tourism Mart to be held in Agartala, Tripura from 22nd – 24th November 2018

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, in association with the Department of Tourism, Government of Tripura and the North Eastern States is organizing the “International Tourism Mart” in Agartala, Tripura from the 22nd to 24th November 2018. The event will be held at the Pragna Bhawan, and will be inaugurated on 22nd November by the Governor of Tripura,  Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki.

This is the 7th edition of the International Tourism Mart, an annual event organised in the North Eastern region with the objective of highlighting the tourism potential of the region in the domestic and international markets. It brings together the tourism business fraternity and entrepreneurs from the eight North Eastern States. The event has been planned and scheduled to facilitate interaction between buyers, sellers, media, Government agencies and other stakeholders.

The International Tourism Marts are organised in the North Eastern States on rotation basis. The earlier editions of this mart have been held in Guwahati, Tawang, Shillong, Gangtok and Imphal.

The North East Region of India comprising the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim, is endowed with diverse tourist attractions and products. The varied topography of the region, its flora and fauna, the ethnic communities with their rich heritage of ancient traditions and lifestyles, its festivals, arts and crafts, make it a holiday destination waiting to be explored.

The ITM will see wide participation of International buyers and media delegates from countries around the world and from different regions of the country. They will be engaging in business-to-business meetings with sellers from the North Eastern Region. This will enable the tourism product suppliers from the region to reach out to international and domestic buyers, with the objective of promoting tourism to the region.  A total of 41 foreign delegates from 18 countries namely Australia, Canada, China, France, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Myanmar, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, UAE and USA will be in Tripura for the Mart. These include 23 Tour Operators & Travel Agents and 18 Media Representatives, Journalists, Travel Writers and Bloggers. Besides the foreign delegates, 26 domestic Tour Operators from other parts of the country and 78 sellers from the North Eastern States will participate in the Mart. Representatives of State Tourism Departments of these North East States will also be present to showcase their tourism destinations and to interact with the delegates.

In addition to the business interactions between the Tour Operators, the three-day event also includes presentations by state governments of the region on their tourism potential, panel discussion, cultural evenings, sightseeing visits to local attractions in and around Agartala and a press meet on 23rd November 2018. An exhibition by State Tourism Departments from the North Eastern States including display of beautiful handicrafts and handlooms is also being organized, to show case the tourism products of respective participating States.

Post-mart familiarisation tours to the North Eastern states have been arranged for the international delegates to create awareness about the rich and varied tourism products of the North Eastern region and to give them a first-hand experience of the destination.

30-Nov-2017: 6th International Tourism Mart being organized in Guwahati, Assam from 5-7 December 2017

The Ministry of Tourism in association with the North Eastern States is organising the “International Tourism Mart” (ITM) in Guwahati, Assam from 5-7 December, 2017.

The 6th International Tourism Mart, will put the spotlight on India’s “Act East Policy”, blossoming ties with ASEAN and the larger East Asia region, home to the world’s rapidly growing economies and India’s emerging tourism markets. Besides deliberations on promotion of tourism in the North East Region in general, keeping the objectives of the ''Act East Policy” in view, the panel discussions will also focus on promoting cultural ties, people-to-people contact with countries in the ASEAN region providing enhanced connectivity to the States of North Eastern Region with other countries in our neighbourhood, thereby developing inter-regional tourism between the ASEAN and North East Region of India. The ITM 2017 will also see an active participation by the Ministry of DONER to synergize the process of development of tourism of the North East Region.

Buyer and Media delegates from around the world and from different regions of the country are participating in the Mart and will engage in one-to-one meetings with sellers from the North East Region. This will enable the tourism product suppliers from the region to reach out to international and domestic buyers, with the objective of promoting tourism to the region, a total of 76 foreign Buyer delegates from over 29 countries namely Australia, Bhutan, Brunei, Canada, China, Cambodia, Cyprus, Fiji, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Netherlands, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Tanzania, Thailand, USA, UK, Vietnam, Turkey, South Korea.

Besides the foreign delegates, 50 domestic stakeholders in Tourism sector from other parts of the country and 86 sellers from the North Eastern States are participating in the Mart. Representatives of State Tourism Departments of these North East States will also be present to showcase their tourism destinations and to interact with the delegates.

International buyers and media delegates from countries around the world and from different regions of the country are participating in the Mart. They will be engaging in business-to-business meetings with sellers from the North Eastern Region. In addition to these the three-day event also includes presentations by state governments on their tourism potential, cultural evenings, sightseeing visits to local attractions in and around Guwahati and a press meeting on 6th December 2017.

An exhibition by State Tourism Departments from the North Eastern States including display of beautiful handicrafts and handlooms is also being organised to show case the tourism products of respective participating States.

Overwhelming response has been received for taking post-mart familiarization tours to the North Eastern states by foreign buyer delegates. This will create awareness about the rich and varied tourism products of the North Eastern region and to give them a first-hand experience of the destination.

16-Sep-2018: Paryatan Parv 2018 inaugurated

The ‘Paryatan Parv’ by the Ministry of Tourism was inaugurated today. This is the second edition of “Paryatan Parv”, a nation-wide celebration of Tourism, from the 16th to 27th September, 2018.

Inaugurating the Parv, Shri Rajnath Singh said that India is the only country where all major religions of the world, diverse culture, customs and cuisines are found and, we should see and experience this Incredible India. The Home Minister added that the Government has ensured ‘ease of travel’ through various steps like simplification of process of e-tourist visa application. The Minister also urged Indians to visit various places in the country and thereby understand its rich and varied culture & heritage, also enjoy its natural beauty.

Speaking at the event the Shri K J Alphons said that Indians have made 1.8 billion domestic trips in the last year and added that the Ministry is aiming for double these visits in next 3 years. The Tourism Minister also called upon everyone to see, experience and get transformed by travelling across India.

During the Inaugural function the Home Minister also released the Paryatan Parv event calendar. The Ministry of Tourism also signed the MoU with Apeejay Group of Hotels and V Resorts for adoption of Jantar Mantar, New Delhi and Surajkund, Haryana, respectively, under its Adopt-a-Heritage scheme. The Home Minister handed over the MoUs and also 9 Letters of Intent for adoption of several other monuments, under the scheme, was also issued to nine companies.

The highlights of the event in Rajpath Lawns, New Delhi are the participation of a record number of 32 States / UT’s who have put up their best foot forward, which include18 Theme Pavilions, a Food Court with 54 Stalls, bringing in the cuisine from across India; a Kitchen Studio by Institute of Hotel Management, Delhi, Crafts Bazaar with 76 Handicraft & Handloom Stalls, Yoga Demo& Training, Performances by Armed Forces Bands and an Exhibition on the theme “SaafNiyatSahiVikas” by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.

The 250 delegates from 60 countries, participating in the International Tourism Mart, organized by the Ministry of Tourism, also had an opportunity to savour the flavour of the Incredible India on showcase at the Rajpath Lawns.

Over 3150 activities and events are taking place across the country during the 12-day event.

Paryatan Parv events across the country today: Various Paryatan Parv activities began across the country along with Delhi today with The Patliputra Heritage Walk, flagged off from the Patna Museum premises at 7 am by the Commissioner, Patna Division, tourism service providers, Stakeholders and tourism students. The Walk organized by India Tourism Patna, covered important heritage sites of Patna like Patna Museum, Dr. Sachchidanand Sinha’s House, Sikandar Manzil, Gandhi Statue, Gandhi Museum, Gandhi Shivir and GolGhar.

Earlier in the day, India Tourism Kolkata, along with IHM, Kolkata and other stakeholders organized a Heritage Walk, from iconic Victoria Memorial Hall after a Swachhata activity, walking through the famous Queensway, Cathedral Road, Chowringhee covering Heritage monuments like St. Paul’s Cathedral, Kolkata Race Course and Indian Museum.

India Tourism Delhi, in association with Yes Global Institute & INTACH, organized a Cycling & heritage walk in Lutyens, New Delhi, with the message, ‘Save the environment, be healthy and let others be healthy’.

22-Oct-2017: “Paryatan Parv” , a nation-wide celebration of Tourism

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, in collaboration with other Central Ministries, State Governments and Stakeholders has organized “Paryatan Parv” , a nation-wide celebration of Tourism from the 5th to 25th October 2017.The programme has been organized with the objective of drawing focus on the benefits of tourism, showcasing the cultural diversity of the country and reinforcing the principle of “Tourism for All”.

As a grand finale to the 21 day Paryatan Parv, a three day event is being organised at the Rajpath Lawns, New Delhi (between Rafi Marg and Janpath) from the 23rd to 25th October 2017. The event will be open to the public from 12 noon to 10 pm on all three days and will include Cultural Performances, a Crafts Bazaar multi-cuisine Food Court and other interactive activities to keep visitors engaged at the event venue.

Paryatan Parv has received a very enthusiastic response from other Central Ministries and State Governments, who have come forward in organizing various activities and events and based on reports received, the event which has spread to all regions of the country has been received very well and has attracted participation in large numbers.
