28-Jun-2023: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi unveils List of “Critical Minerals for India”
Union Minister of Coal, Mines & Parliamentary Affairs Shri Pralhad Joshi has unveiled the first ever report of the country on “Critical Minerals for India”, prepared by an expert team constituted by the Ministry of Mines, in a function here today. Complementing the efforts of the Ministry, Shri Joshi pointed out that it is for the first time India has identified the comprehensive list of critical minerals taking into account the requirements of sectors like defence, agriculture, energy, pharmaceutical, telecom etc. The effort is India’s roadmap for Aatmanirbharbharat, the Minister added.

Report on Panchayat Development Index was released at the hands of Union Minister of State for Panchayati Raj Shri Kapil Moreshwar Patil at National Workshop on Panchayat Development Index (PDI) here today.
More than 250 participants including Senior Officers of different Ministries and Departments of Government of India, Principal Secretaries along with the Senior Officers of the Departments of Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, Planning & Statistics and Programme Monitoring, Directors of SIRD&PRs, Senior Technical Officers of State NIC and Officials of SDG Cell and other key stake-holders participated in the National Workshop on Panchayat Development Index.

Livestock Sector
Livestock Sector is an important subsector of agriculture in the Indian economy. It grew at a CAGR of 7.93 per cent during 2014-15 to 2020-21 (at constant prices). The contribution of livestock in total agriculture and allied sector GVA (at constant prices) has increased from 24.32per cent (2014-15) to 30.13per cent (2020-21). Livestock sector contributed 4.90per cent of total GVA in 2020-21.
Livestock Population
India has vast resources of livestock and poultry, which play a vital role in improving the socio-economic conditions of rural masses. There are about 303.76 million bovines (cattle, buffalo, mithun and yak), 74.26 million sheep, 148.88 million goats, 9.06 million pigs and about 851.81 million poultry as per 20th Livestock Census in the country.
