26-Jan-2021: Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla inaugurates ‘Bharat Parv 2021’

Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla inaugurated today the ‘Bharat Parv 2021’, a virtual   national festival showcasing the country’s diverse culture, cuisines and handicrafts. Minister of State (Independent charge) for Tourism and Culture Shri Prahlad Singh Patel was also present on this occasion. The Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with other central Ministries is organizing this year a virtual ‘Bharat Parv’ event from 26th to 31st January 2021, showcasing the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.

Shri Om Birla in his address to the august gathering greeted everyone on the occasion of 72nd Republic Day.  Praising India’s democracy, the Lok Sabha Speaker observed that due to the guiding spirit provided by the Constitution, in the journey of past seven decades democracy in our country has matured, strengthened and become even stronger,

Regarding the tourism sector, Shri Birla remarked that there is no state or district in our country that doesn’t have a distinct speciality of its own. Because of this uniqueness, India has become a center of attraction for international tourists too. We are working to connect the whole country through tourism and culture, the Speaker said.

Shri Birla further said that through the 'Bharat Parv' programme, the Ministry has taken the commendable task of bringing together India's tourism, spiritual and other activities on a single platform.

Observing that the COVID-19 pandemic has posed the greatest challenge for the tourism sector, Shri Birla noted that despite the odds, the tourism sector has worked to turn this challenge into an opportunity. Emphasizing the potential of tourism sector in India, Shri Birla said that the tourism sector is the only area that provides the largest number of employment to people. He stressed that if we wish to change the socio-economic conditions in our country, then it is essential that efforts be made for the growth of tourism sector. Appreciating the role of states, Shri Birla further said that every state has strived towards developing its wellness, yoga and spirituality- related destinations in the tourism sector.

Addressing the gathering the Tourism Minister, Sh Prahlad Singh Patel said that tourism is the most effective medium for exhibiting the cultural diversity and rich heritage of our country.  He said that the objective of ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ initiative of Ministry of Tourism  is to encourage citizens to travel widely within the country and enhancing tourist footfalls, leading to development of local economy and creation of jobs at the local level. This initiative is in line with the vision of the Prime Minister asking every citizen to visit at least 15 destinations by the year 2022 to promote domestic tourism.

Shri Prahlad Singh Patel further said that tourism was the most affected industry during the Covid 19 pandemic but positive attitude and effective planning of the government is helping this industry to rebound in a magnificent way. The Minister said that the diverse culture of India is our great strength and we can introduce it to the world through tourism.

Secretary Tourism, Sh Yogendra Tripathi said that the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India is organizing the Bharat Parv every year since 2016 in the front ground of the ramparts of the Red Fort in Delhi on the occasion of Republic Day Celebrations from 26th to 31st January. The mega event envisages generating patriotic fervor and showcases the rich and varied cultural diversity of the country. The Bharat Parv celebrates the “Essence of India”. However, due to the Covid related circumstances it has been organized on a virtual platform this year, the Secretary explained.

Various Central Ministries and other organizations such as Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Ayush, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Development Commissioner Handlooms, Development Commissioner Handicrafts, Lalit Kala Academy, Archaeological Survey of India, National Museum, National Gallery of Modern Arts, media units of I&B Ministry , Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) etc. display handicrafts, handlooms, music, dance, paintings , literary material and other features from all over India during the celebration.

Glimpses of Republic Day Parade and recorded performances of armed forces music bands shall also be available on this virtual platform this year. Various Central Institutes of Hotel Management and Indian Culinary Institute will also display culinary delights from across India by showcasing videos and recipes of cuisines.

25-Jan-2021: Ministry of I&B and Prasar Bharati gear up for Bharat Parv 2021

Bharat Parv, a mega event is organized every year to coincide with the republic Day Celebrations. The event envisages generating patriotic fervor and showcases the rich and varied cultural diversity of the country. Bharat Parv 2021 scheduled from January 26 – 31, 2021 will be organized on a virtual platform by Ministry of Tourism, due to Covid pandemic situation. The Virtual platform will include theme pavilion for States, UT’s and various Ministries. The overall theme of Bharat Parv will also be focused towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat.

Prasar Bharati, the National Broadcaster plays significant role towards promoting cultural diversity and national integration. Prasar Bharati has also set up its stall on virtual platform of Bharat Parv and will also showcase its efforts towards Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat through highlights of some of its programmes. Publications Division will participate in the first Virtual "Bharat Parv 2021" echoing the theme of विरासत शब्दों की, भाव भारतीयता का. Celebrating the diversity and spirit of India, DPD's Virtual pavilion will  exhibit a rich display of books on Art & culture, history and heritage, biographies of Builders of Modern India as also books from 'Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat' series.

Being one of the prominent publishers of books on Gandhian thought, Publications Division will also display select titles on Mahatma Gandhi. Visitors will be able to browse through books on speeches of President, Vice President and Prime Minister and also on diverse subjects including children’s literature, national freedom movement, Rashtrapati Bhawan series among others.

In addition to showcasing its books, Publications Division will also display its four monthly journals, Yojana, Kurukshetra, Aajkal and Bal Bharati and its weekly journal Employment News.  These journals of Publications Division serve as a forum of discussion on development issues and are useful for citizens and other stakeholders to get a national perspective on key initiatives of the Government of India.

Bureau of Outreach Communication is bringing content from Exhibition on 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi to this edition of Bharat Parv. This will consist of photos, videos, animation and quiz with regard to the exhibition on the theme of ‘Swachh Bharat, Sashakt Bharat, Bapu ke Sapno Ka Bharat’. Video and motion animation on Mahatma Gandhi in the cut-out of India on the theme of ‘India of My Dreams’ with quotes of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi highlighting various milestones achieved by the Government of India under ‘Sankalp se Sidhi tak’ will also be part of the display. Rare footage on various milestones in the life Mahatma Gandhi and photos and short videos/ snippets of 50th IFFI will comprise the rest of the display.

25-Jan-2020: Bharat Parv 2020 to be celebrated from 26th to 31st January

To celebrate the spirit of India, the annual event Bharat Parv is being organised in Delhi this year too. Special Secretary & Financial Adviser of Ministry of Tourism Shri Rajesh Kumar Chaturvedi will inaugurate the Bharat Parv tomorrow at Red fort ground in New Delhi. Bharat Parv,  2020  is  being  celebrated  from 26th to 31st January, 2020 in front of Red Fort at Gyan Path and Red Fort grounds. The objective of Bharat Parv is to encourage Indians to visit different tourism places of India and to inculcate the spirit of  ‘Dekho Apna Desh’.

The Central theme of this year’s Bharat Parv is ‘Ek  Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ and ‘Celebrating 150 Years of Mahatma Gandhi’. Bharat Parv will be open for the General Public on 26th January, at 5.00 PM till 10.00 PM. On the remaining days 27th to 31st January, 2020 the Bharat Parv would be open from 12.00 Hrs. till 10.00 PM.

Bharat Parv have many attractions for public like display of Tableaux of the Republic Day parade, performance by armed forces bands, tourism theme pavilion by State Governments/ Union Territory Administrations and line Ministries, handicraft & Handloom Stalls by the State Governments/Union Territory Administrations, Commission Handloom / Handicrafts / TRIFED, food Court by State Governments, Institutes of Hotel Management and other organizations, cultural Performances by North Central Zone Cultural Centre (NCZCC) and State Governments/UT Administrations and cookery demonstrations by State Governments and Institute of  Hotel Management.

Entry to the Bharat Parv is free though the visitors will have to show their identity proof for entering the Parv.

2018

25-Jan-2018: ‘Bharat Parv’ being organized as part of Republic Day 2018 Celebrations from 26th To 31st January

As part of  the  Republic  Day  2018  celebrations, the ‘Bharat Parv’ event is being organized by the Government of India at the Red Fort, Delhi from 26th to 31st  January, 2018. The prime objective of organizing the event is to generate a patriotic mood, promote the rich cultural diversity of the country and to ensure wider participation of the general public.

The Ministry of Tourism has been designated as the nodal Ministry for the event, the highlights of  which include Display of Republic Day Parade Tableaux, Performances by the Armed Forces Bands (Static as  well  as  dynamic), a Multi-Cuisine Food Court, Craft Mela, Cultural Performances from  different regions of the country and Photo Exhibition by the Directorate of Advertising and Visual  Publicity(DAVP). 

The Cultural Performances include choreographed Fork/Tribal Dances and Music arranged through the North Zonal Cultural Centre as well as performances by cultural troupes from the  different States/UTs of the country. The Food Court will have stalls set up by the States/UTs,  National Association of Street Vendors of India(NASVI) showcasing street food from different  regions as well as by the Institutes of Hotel Managements and ITDC.

The Craft Mela with 50 stalls will showcase the diverse handicrafts of the country, arranged by the  State Governments and  Ministry of Textiles through the office of the Development Commissioner  of Handicrafts. There will be Theme State Pavilions where each State would showcase their strengths along with tourism products. DAVP is also setting up an exhibition on the theme “Naya Bharat Hum Karke Rahenge”. A live ‘Cookery Demonstration Area’ is being set up in the food  court to promote cuisines of different States of India.

2017

24-Jan-2017: BHARAT PARV to be held at Red Fort from 26th to 31st January 2017

The “Bharat Parv” event is being organized by the Government of India at the Red Fort, Delhi from 26th to 31st January 2017, as part of the Republic Day 2017 Celebrations.

The prime objective of organizing the event is to generate a patriotic mood, promote the rich cultural diversity of the country, to ensure wider participation of the general public and to popularise the idea of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat.

The Ministry of Tourism has been designated as the nodal Ministry for the event, the highlights of which include display of the Republic Day Parade Tableaux, Performances by the Armed Forces Bands (static and moving), a Multi-Cuisine Food Court, Crafts Mela, Cultural Performances from different regions of the country and a Photo Exhibition by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.

The Cultural Performances include choreographed Folk / Tribal Dances and Music from across the country arranged through the North Zonal Cultural Centre as well as performances by cultural troupes from the different States/ UTs of the country.

The Crafts Mela with 50 stalls will showcase the diverse handicrafts of the country, arranged by the State Governments and Ministry of Textiles through the Office of the Development Commissioner of Handicrafts.

There will be 11 Theme State Pavilions where each State would showcase their achievements and initiatives, tourism products and destinations, etc.

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting is also setting up a Photo Exhibition on the theme “Mera Desh Badal Raha Hai, Aage Badh Raha Hai”. The big attraction of the event are the Republic Day Parade Tableaux which will be stationed at the venue for the duration of the event.
