18-May-2022: The 41st edition of Hunar Haat, an effective campaign of “Acclamation to Art” and “Splendour to Skill”, is being organised in Agra, Uttar Pradesh  from today.

The 41st edition of Hunar Haat, an effective campaign of “Acclamation to Art” and “Splendour to Skill”, is being organised in Agra, Uttar Pradesh from May18 to 29,2022.

More than 800 artisans and craftsmen from 32 States and Union Territories of the country are participating in this 12-day “Hunar Haat”, organised at Shilpgram, Tajganj in Agra.

Union Minister for Minority Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Shri Brajesh Pathak and other senior Uttar Pradesh Ministers, MPs, MLAs will formally inaugurate this “Hunar Haat”, the “Kumbh of Kaushal Kuber” on May19, 2022.

After visiting the stalls of artisans and craftsmen ahead of the formal inauguration Shri Naqvi today said that while on one hand, “Hunar Haat” has become a “credible and consummate” platform to strengthen Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s call for “Vocal for Local” and “Self-reliant India”, on the other hand “Hunar Haat” has been playing a pivotal role in “Preservation, Protection, Promotion” of centuries old rich legacy of art and craft of the country.

Shri Naqvi said that removing the barriers of caste, community, region and religion, “Hunar Haat” has given employment and self-employment opportunities to about 10 lakh 50 thousand artisans and craftsmen from all sections of the society in the last 6 years. More than 50 per cent beneficiaries are women artisans from all sections.

He said that “Hunar Haat” is also available at virtual and online platform http://hunarhaat.org and Government-e-Marketplace (GeM) portal of Commerce Ministry, Government of India. People of the country and abroad can buy “Hunar Haat” products digital and online also. Artisans and craftsmen are receiving online orders on large scale.

Fabulous handmade products ranging from pottery to wooden works to sandalwood works, clay work to glass work, brass work to iron work, handloom to handicrafts and other products are available at the “Hunar Haat”. Visitors will also enjoy traditional foods from different regions of the country at “Mera Ganv, Mera Desh” (food court). “Vishwakarma Vatika”, traditional circus, laser shows, musical and spectacular cultural programmes of renowned and emerging artists, selfie points etc are major attraction of this “Hunar Haat”.

The visitors at Agra “Hunar Haat” will enjoy musical and cultural programmes every evening. Renowned artists such as Shailendra Singh, Pankaj Udhaas, Daler Mehdi, Altaf Raja, Talat Aziz, Mohit Chauhan, Roop Kumar Rathore and Sonali Rathore, Bhoomi Trivedi, Poornima Shrestha,  Raju Shrivastava, Nizami Bandhu, Pratibha Singh Baghel, Dilbag Singh, Neha Khan, Mohit Khanna, Rekha Raj, P. 17-Apr-2022: Union Minister Shri Anurag Thakur inaugurates 40th 'Hunar Haat’ in Mumbai

Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports, Shri Anurag Thakur inaugurated the 40th edition of the 'Hunar Haat’ in the presence of Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, in Mumbai today.

The 40th edition of Hunar Haat, a credible platform to promote 'Swadeshi' products, is being held at MMRDA Ground, Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai from 16th to 27th April, 2022.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Thakur said “Aatmanirbhar Bharat is being strengthened by initiatives like Hunar Haat. In this 40th edition of Hunar Haat, more than a thousand craftsmen and artisans coming from 31 states have put up 400 stalls."

“There is no lack of talent in India,” he said recalling how India responded to  PM’s clarion call for building an Aatma Nirbhar Bharat during the hours of crisis. “We started producing PPE Kits, masks and even ventilators.”

The Minister also spoke about 'One District One Product', where each district is recognised for one product. He said this initiative not only allowed people to generate their own income, but also created job opportunities for a few others in the vicinity when economies across the world were affected by the Pandemic.

Shri Thakur highlighted the steps taken by the PM in promoting Skill India. “Skill training is provided so that you do not become job-seekers, instead become job-givers.” He mentioned that our culture and educational structure had not focused much on the pride of labour. “PM Shri Modi has stressed a lot on 'Dignity of Labour',” he said.

Shri Thakur also informed about ‘Tejas’ a skilling programme which has been launched by Govt. of India. Under this initiative India will send skilled manpower to UAE. “Within a year, 30,000 skilled job-seekers will be sent to UAE,” he informed.

The Minister suggested that Ministry of Minority Affairs can tie up with the universities, colleges and schools so that students can be brought to the Expo and given demonstration about how 'Best from Waste' can be created. He also urged the Minority Affairs Ministry to examine feasibility of conducting short term Skill training courses concurrently in the future edition oh Hunar Haats planned across the country.

Shri Thakur urged media persons to focus on various stalls put up at the 40th Hunar Haat, so that their information reaches the public and their products receive the right recognition.  He also urged the corporate houses of Mumbai to source their Diwali and anniversary gifts from Hunar Haat. "Diwali may be 5-6 months away, but place your orders for corporate gifts right now, right here" he said.

Speaking about Hunar Haat which is an initiative of Ministry of Minority Affairs, Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that one will get to witness ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ and experience the essence of 'Unity in Diversity' at the Hunar Haat in Mumbai. “You will get to experience the country's culture & skill right from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Kutch to Cuttack,” he said. He also informed that more than nine lakh artisans and crafts persons have benefitted by getting employment opportunities through Hunar Haat, in the last seven years.

Member of Parliament and former Union Minister Prakash Javadekar spoke about the hidden talents of the country's youth and how they excel in different skills.  He encouraged the artisans to come forward and make use of technology to help local products reach the world market. He also spoke about Geographical Indicators which can help country’s artisans find a bigger market. "When a product is recognised as GI, it gets an opportunity to reach the global market,” he said.

Vishwakarma Vatika: At “Vishwakarma Vatika”, a main attraction of Hunar Haat, artisans will display live demonstration of how traditional indigenous products are created.

'Mera Gaon Mera Desh’ Food Court: A thematic food court 'Mera Gaon Mera Desh' has been set up. Traditional foods from across various states of India can be savoured. More than 60 food stalls have been set up at the Haat.

15-Nov-2021: Union Minister for Minority Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi inaugurates 33rd edition of “Hunar Haat” in New Delhi today.

Union Minister for Minority Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s “mantra” of “Vocal for Local” has become a “mass movement” to strengthen the vision of “Swadeshi to Swavalamban”.

Inaugurating the 33rd edition of “Hunar Haat”, being organised at India International Trade Fair, Pragati Maidan in New Delhi today, Shri Naqvi said that during the Corona crisis, indigenous production capacity fulfilled the domestic needs and became “safety cover” for Indian economy during the global recession.

Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs Shri John Barla, Ambassador of Iran to India Dr Ali Chegeni, Ambassador of Kuwait to India Shri Jasem Ibrahem Al Najem, Secretary, Union Minority Affairs Ministry Smt. Renuka Kumar and other senior officials were present on the occasion.

Shri Naqvi said that the country which used to depend on foreign imports even for food grains, has now not only become self-reliant in food grains production, it is also exporting food grains to the entire world. India’s self-reliance in food grains production is a result of hard work of our “Anndatas” and the Government’s efforts to ensure “Aatmanirbhar Krishi Aur Krishak”.

He said that India has become a major hub of pharmacy sector. Within a year of the Corona pandemic, India made the entire world realise capability and strength of our country’s indigenous production by developing “Made in India” Corona vaccine, various medical equipment and other indigenous life-saving medicines to ensure health and well-being of the people.

The Minister said that India's traditional and ancestral legacy of handloom-handicraft has been promoted by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's “mantra” of "Vocal for Local" and "Swadeshi". The "Hunar Haat" has not only made the artisans and craftsmen self-reliant, it has also strengthened the commitment to “Aatmanirbhar Bharat”.

This is the 33rd “Hunar Haat” in the series of on-going “Hunar Haats” across the country. More than 550 artisans and craftsmen from more than 30 States/UTs are participating in the “Hunar Haat”, being organized at Hall No 3, Pragati Maidan from 14th to 27th November 2021. With 300 stalls, this is the largest participation by the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs in India International Trade Fair this year.  Canara Bank has set up a stall in the “Hunar Haat” to provide easy loans to artisans and craftsmen for employment and self-employment.

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemical and Fertilizers Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the 32nd edition of “Hunar Haat”, “Perfect Platform” to “promote and preserve” traditional art and craft of the country, in Lucknow today.

In his address after inauguration of the "Hunar Haat", Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said that it is very necessary to promote, encourage and respect the art and craft of the indigenous artisans and craftsmen of the country. The hidden art and craft across the country are being recognised through "Hunar Haat".

Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said that India has been trading in handicrafts all over the world for several centuries. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given the slogan of "Vocal for Local" to fulfil the vision of “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” (Self-reliant India) which is being carried forward by the "Hunar Haat".

He said that to increase the income of the artisans and craftsmen of the country, there is a need to provide national as well as international markets to their indigenous handmade products and "Hunar Haat" has proved to be an important platform in this direction. 30th edition of “Hunar Haat” was inaugurated by the Union Minister for Minority Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami at Dehradun today.

Speaking at the inaugural event the Union Minister said that ‘Hunar Haat’ is a unique platform that brings the artisans of the entire nation from Kutch to Cuttack, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari under one roof. Shri Naqvi added that “Vishwakarma Vatika” is also one of the main attraction in “Hunar Haats”. Artisans and craftsmen are displaying live, how these traditional indigenous products are made in these “Vatikas”. It will play an important role in preserving and promoting the traditional art and craft of the country.

The Union Minister added that the craftsmen’s skills to convert waste products into beautiful handicraft is on display at all these events. Sh. Naqvi said that the ‘Hunar Haats’ will also offer cuisine from across the nation under the umbrella of ‘Mera Gaon Mera Desh’ as well as cultural programmes by eminent artists to promote the vision of ‘Vocal for Local’.

He assured firm support to provide market to the artisans from the hilly and border areas of Uttarakhand and expressed hope that such an event would become an yearly affair.

The Union Minister further added that “Hunar Haat” has become a “credible platform” to strengthen Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision for “Swadeshi-Swavalamban” and “Vocal for Local” and to provide a market to indigenous products of traditional artisans and craftsmen. During the last about 6 years, more than 5 lakh 60 thousand artisans, craftsmen and people associated with them have been provided employment and employment opportunities through “Hunar Haat”.

Shri Naqvi said that after Dehradun, "Hunar Haat" will be organised at Braj Raj Mahotsav, Vrindavan (from 10th November), Lucknow (12 to 21 November), Pragati Maidan, New Delhi (14th to 27th Nov), Hyderabad (26 November to 5 December), Surat (10 to 19 December), New Delhi (22 December 2021 to 2 January 2022). “Hunar Haat” will also be organised in Mysuru, Guwahati, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Patna, Puducherry, Mumbai, Jammu, Chennai, Chandigarh, Agra, Prayagraj, Goa, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Kota, Sikkim, Srinagar, Leh, Shillong, Ranchi, Agartala and other places in the coming days.

In his address after inauguration of “Hunar Haat”, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami said that there is no dearth of skilled and talented people in our country. Skilled artisans and craftsmen were looking for a market for their art and crafts. “Hunar Haat” has provided immense market and opportunities to such artisans and craftsmen.

Shri Dhami said that “Hunar Haat” has provided “market for products and products for market”. He added that Union Ministry of Minority Affairs, under the leadership of Shri Naqvi, is providing effective market to artisans and craftsmen even from remote areas of the country.

On the occasion, MLA and former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat said that artisans and craftsmen of “Hunar Haat” are playing an important role in preserving and promoting traditional art and craft of the country.

Organised in Dehradun, this is the 30th “Hunar Haat” in the series of "Hunar Haats", being organised across the country under "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav". About 500 artisans and craftsmen from more than 30 States and Union Territories including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Nagaland, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Goa, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Ladakh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu-Kashmir, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala have brought their indigenous products made with wood, brass, bamboo, glass, cloth, paper, clay etc. at “Hunar Haat” in Dehradun. 16-Aug-2021: 75 "Hunar Haat" to be organized under "Amrit Mahotsav" of 75 years of India’s Independence

Minister for Minority Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said here that a target has been set to provide employment and employment opportunities to 7 lakh 50 thousand artisans, craftsmen through 75 "Hunar Haat", to be organised across the country as a part of "Amrit Mahotsav" of 75 years of India’s Independence.

Shri Naqvi said that 75 "Amrit Mahotsav Parks" will also be constructed on the vacant Waqf lands across the country under “Waqf Taraqqiati Scheme” and “Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karykram” (PMJVK) of the Union Minority Affairs Ministry.

He said that 75 "Hunar Haat" will be organized with the resolve of “Vocal for Local” in all parts of the country, where artisans, craftsmen from every region of the country will exhibit and sell their handmade indigenous products. There will also be a section "Bawarchikhana" of traditional culinary experts in the “Hunar Haat” where the people will enjoy traditional cuisines and dishes from different regions of the country. Various cultural programmes will also be performed by renowned artists of the country every evening in the "Hunar Haat".

The Minister stated that under the "Amrit Mahotsav", "Mera Watan, Mera Chaman" Mushairas and Kavi Sammelans will also be organized across the country till 2023, where renowned as well as emerging poets will give effective and patriotic message of "Ek Bharat- Shrestha Bharat".

Shri Naqvi said that land is being given by various Waqf Boards of the country for construction of 75 "Amrit Mahotsav Parks" across the country. These “Amrit Mahotsav Parks” will also depict, in an artistic manner, the history of role played by that particular region in the freedom struggle. These parks will also have facilities for yoga, exercise, walk, play area for children, green area and also common service centre.

Union Minister for Minority Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said that “Hunar Haat” is a “Perfect, Popular and Proud Platform” for indigenous artistry and crafts of the country.

The 28th “Hunar Haat” of indigenous products of artisans and craftsmen is being organised at Kala Academy, Campal, Panaji (Goa)from today 26th March to 04th April.

Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant will formally inaugurate this “Hunar Haat” tomorrow 27th March in the august presence of Union Minister for Minority Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

The 27th “Hunar Haat” of indigenous products of artisans and craftsmen from across the country was today inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan at Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal in the august presence of Union Minister for Minority Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

Madhya Pradesh Minister for Medical Education Shri Vishvas Sarang; Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Science and Technology Shri Omprakash Sakhlecha graced the occasion as Guests of Honour. Secretary, Union Minority Affairs Ministry Shri P. K. Das and other senior officials; senior officials from the State Government and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.

Shri Chouhan said that the artisans and craftsmen continued their work even during the Corona pandemic. The Madhya Pradesh Government along with the Union Minority Affairs Ministry will work towards promotion of indigenous legacy of artisans and craftsmen.

10-Nov-2020: Hunar Haat to restart from tomorrow after 7-month gap due to Corona pandemic

Hunar Haat will restart from tomorrow after a gap of about seven months due to the Corona pandemic.

Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi will inaugurate the Hunar Haat at Delhi Haat at Pitampura. The theme of this event is Vocal for Local where indigenous exquisite products made from Maati (clay), Metal and Machiya (wooden and jute products) will be the major attraction.

Mr. Naqvi today said that rare exquisite products made from clay, different metals and wooden products, products made from cane-bamboo and mesmerising pottery work will be available for display. The Hunar Haat will continue till 22nd of November.

The Minister said that every corner of the country has a traditional and ancestral legacy of indigenous products. He said, this legacy, which was on the verge of extinction, has got a boon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi pitched for Swadeshi.

Mr. Naqvi said, the Indian indigenous industry has got tremendous boost after Modi advocated to get Vocal for Local. This is also strengthening the mission of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. He said, that more than 100 stalls have been set up at this Hunar Haat. Mr. Naqvi said that social distancing and other guidelines regarding Corona pandemic will be strictly followed at Hunar Haat.

22-May-2020: “Hunar Haat” to restart from September 2020 with the theme of “Local to Global”

After a gap of about 5 months due to the Corona pandemic, “Hunar Haat”, which has become “Empowerment Exchange” of artisans and craftsmen from across the country, will restart from September 2020 with the theme of “Local to Global” and comparatively larger participation of artisans.

Union Minister for Minority Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said here that “Hunar Haat”, which has provided employment and employment opportunities to more than 5 lakh Indian artisans, craftsmen, culinary experts and other people associated with them in the last 5 years, have become popular among the people. “Hunar Haat”, which provides market and opportunity to master artisans and craftsmen from remote areas of the country, has become a credible brand of rare exquisite indigenous handmade products.

It is to be noted that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, during his instantaneous visit to “Hunar Haat”, organised at India Gate, New Delhi in February 2020, had encouraged and lauded indigenous handmade products of artisans and craftsmen. Appreciating the artisans and craftsmen and their products in “Man Ki Baat” programme, Prime Minister Shri Modi has said, “A few days ago, at a small place at the Hunar Haat in Delhi, I witnessed hues of our country’s diverse expanse, cultures, traditions, cuisines & the warmth of emotions. As a matter of fact the repertoire comprising traditional attires, handicrafts, carpets, utensils, Bamboo & brass products, Phulkari of Punjab, exotic leatherwork of Andhra Pradesh, beautiful paintings from Tamil Nādu, brass products of Uttar Pradesh, Bhadohi carpets, copper work of Kutch, a number of musical instruments & innumerable stories; the vivid mosaic of pan- Indian art & culture was truly unique. The stories of the artisans’ perseverance, zeal & love for their skill are equally inspiring as well.”

Prime Minister Shri Modi had said, “Hunar Haat, of course, is a platform showcasing art & craft; it is also lending wings to people’s dreams. It is a venue where it is impossible to overlook the country’s diversity. Besides handicrafts, it displays the diversity of India’s varied cuisine too. in a single row, one could savour the sight of Idli- Dosa, Chhole- Bhature, Daal- Baati, Khaman- Khandvi & what not! I thoroughly enjoyed having the delicious Litti- Chokha of Bihar. All over India, fairs & exhibitions such as this are organized from time to time. Whenever the opportunity arises, one should attend such events to know India, to experience India. Thus, not only would you be able to be a part of the country’s art-culture canvas; you will also contribute in the progress & prosperity of hardworking crafts persons, especially women.”

Shri Naqvi informed that utilising the time during nationwide lockdown; artisans and craftsmen have prepared their rare indigenous exquisite products at large scale and will bring them for display and sale in next “Hunar Haat”.

Shri Naqvi said that social distancing, hygiene, sanitisation and use of masks will be ensured at “Hunar Haat”. There will be a special “Jaan Bhi, Jahaan Bhi” pavilion to create health awareness among the people with the theme of “Say no to panic, yes to precautions”.

The Minority Affairs Ministry has organised more than 2 dozen “Hunar Haat” so far across the country where lakhs of artisans, craftsmen have been provided employment and employment opportunities through these “Hunar Haat”.

In the coming days, “Hunar Haat” will be organized in Chandigarh, Delhi, Prayagraj, Bhopal, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Gurugram, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Dehradun, Patna, Nagpur, Raipur, Puducherry, Amritsar, Jammu, Shimla, Goa, Kochi, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, Ajmer, Ahmedabad, Indore, Ranchi, Lucknow and other places.

Shri Naqvi said that this time, people will also be able to buy “Hunar Haat” products digital and online also. Union Minority Affairs Ministry has started process to register these artisans and their indigenous products on “GeM” (Government e Marketplace). Several export promotion councils have shown interest to provide international markets at large scale for handmade indigenous products of these artisans and craftsmen.

Shri Naqvi said that lakhs of master artisans and craftsmen from across the country are happy and excited that “Hunar Haat” is going to be organised again.

9-Feb-2020: “Hunar Haat” proved to be a “Mega Mission” of economic empowerment of needy master artisans and craftsmen

The Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has said that “Hunar Haat”, being organised across the country by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, have proved to be a “Mega Mission” of economic empowerment of needy master artisans and craftsmen. He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating “Hunar Haat” along with Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Lalji Tandon, at Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

Shri Naqvi said that “Hunar Haat” has become a “Mega Mission” of indigenous Craft, Cuisine & Culture and economic empowerment of master artisans, craftsmen. The success of “Hunar Haat” can be gauged from the fact that about 3 lakh needy master artisans, craftsmen & culinary experts have been provided employment and employment opportunities through “Hunar Haat” in the last about 3 years. These beneficiaries include a large number of women artisans.

Shri Naqvi said that in the next 5 years, about 100 “Hunar Haat” will be organised across the country which will result into employment opportunities to lakhs of artisans and craftsmen and people associated with them.

Shri Naqvi further said that the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi-led Government is not only providing employment opportunities to master artisans and craftsmen, it is also preserving and promoting India’s indigenous traditional legacy of master artisans and craftsmen which was on the verge of extinction.

Shri Naqvi said that central Government has sanctioned 100 “Hunar Hubs” in different parts of the country. Training is being provided to master artisans, craftsmen and traditional culinary experts according to modern needs in these “Hunar Hubs” and they are also being provided national-international markets.

Shri Naqvi also said that “Hunar Haat”, being organised at prominent places across the country, have proved to be financially beneficial for the needy artisans and craftsmen as each “Hunar Haat” generates business worth crores of rupees for indigenous handmade exquisite products of artisans and craftsmen. These artisans are receiving orders for their products not only from domestic markets but also from international markets. “Hunar Haat” have become “Employment and Empowerment Exchange” for master artisans and craftsmen.

Shri Naqvi said that the “Hunar Haat”, being organised at Indore, is the 19th “Hunar Haat” of the Minority Affairs Ministry. So far, “Hunar Haat” have been organized at various places in the country such as Delhi, Mumbai, Allahabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad & Puducherry. The next “Hunar Haat” will be organized at India Gate Lawns, Rajpath, New Delhi (from 13th to 23rd Feb, 2020); Ranchi from 29th February to 8th March and in Chandigarh from 13th to 22nd March, 2020.

Shri Naqvi said that in the coming days, “Hunar Haat” will be organized in Gurugram, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Dehradun, Patna, Bhopal, Nagpur, Raipur, Puducherry, Amritsar, Jammu, Shimla, Goa, Kochi, Guwahati, Bhubaneshwar, Ajmer and other places.

Earlier, addressing the gathering, the Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Lalji Tandon said that India is a country of diversity with every region having different art, culture, language, costumes. This “Unity in Diversity” is the identity of India. Every corner of the country has its own legacy of arts/crafts.

Shri Lalji Tandon congratulated Shri Naqvi for providing employment opportunities to artisans through "Hunar Haat" on a large scale. The Governor said that the Ministry of Minority Affairs, under the leadership of Shri Naqvi, is strengthening Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji's "Dream Project" to provide opportunity and market to the country's rich heritage of arts/crafts.

The Governor said that the Ministry of Minority Affairs is doing a historic task of preserving and promoting the magnificent heritage of the skilled people of every corner of the country and providing them national and international market.

In “Hunar Haat” at Indore which is organised from 08th to 16th February, 2020, 125 stalls have been set up and more than 250 master artisans, craftsmen and culinary experts from across the country are participating. These artisans include a large number of women artisans. They have brought with them indigenous exquisite handmade products. “Bawarchikhana” will provide taste of traditional delicacies of several states. Cultural programmes, being organized on daily basis, will also be a major attraction of the “Hunar Haat” in Indore.

22-Dec-2019: Hunar Haat’ has proved to be “Empowerment Exchange” for master artisans and craftsmen

Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Union Minister for Minority Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today inaugurated ‘Hunar Haat’, which is being organised by Union Minority Affairs Ministry from 20th to 31st December, 2019 at MMRDA Ground, Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai.

On this occasion, Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari said that ‘Hunar Haat’ is an effective platform to promote hidden talent of master artisans, craftsmen from across the country. ‘Hunar Haat’ has brought their hidden talent before the entire world.

Programmes such as ‘Hunar Haat’ of Union Minority Affairs Ministry are strengthening our economy by financially empowering the needy artisans. The Hon’ble Governor visited stalls at ‘Hunar Haat’ and encouraged the artisans from across the country.  

On the occasion, Shri Naqvi said that ‘Hunar Haat’ have proved to be an effective and successful mission to preserve and promote India’s indigenous traditional legacy of master artisans and craftsmen which was on the verge of extinction.

While on one hand ‘Hunar Haat’ promotes traditional arts of master artisans and craftsmen, on the other hand, thousands of artisans and people associated with them including a large number of women artisans have been provided employment opportunities through ‘Hunar Haat’.

‘Hunar Haats’, being organised at prominent places across the country, have proved to be financially beneficial for the needy artisans and craftsmen as each ‘Hunar Haat’ generates business worth crores of rupees for indigenous handmade exquisite products of artisans and craftsmen. These artisans are receiving orders for their products not only from domestic markets but also from international markets. ‘Hunar Haat’ has proved to be “Empowerment Exchange” for master artisans and craftsmen.

Ministry of Minority Affairs has sanctioned 100 ‘Hunar Hubs’ in different parts of the country in the first 100 days of this government. Training is being provided to master artisans, craftsmen and traditional culinary experts according to modern needs in these ‘Hunar Hubs’.

The next ‘Hunar Haat’ will be organised at Lucknow (10th to 20th January, 2020); Hyderabad (11th to 19th January, 2020); Chandigarh (from 20th January to 1st February, 2020) and Indore (08th to 16th February, 2020).  

In ‘Hunar Haat’, at Mumbai, more than 180 stalls have been set up where about 400 master artisans, craftsmen, including a large number of women artisans, from across the country are participating. The artisans have brought with them indigenous, exquisite pieces of Handicrafts & Handloom work from every corner of the country. People coming at ‘Hunar Haat’ in Mumbai are also enjoying traditional delicacies from different states of the country. 

Besides, traditional dance, music, Qawwali and other cultural programmes presented every day by renowned artists are also a major attraction for the visitors. Renowned artists like Hans Raj Hans, Sayra Khan, Supriya Joshi, Rahul Joshi, Farhan Sabri, Trannum Mallik, Rahul Joshi, Prem Bhatia, Harjot Kaur, Mickey Singh Narula, Mukesh Pancholi, Gul Saxena will enthrall the audience with their performances at ‘Hunar Haat’ in Mumbai.

14-Nov-2017: 4th Hunar Haat to be inaugurated on 15th November, 2017

The fourth Hunar Haat exhibition is being organised by the Ministry of Minority Affairs at India International Trade Fair (IITF) at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 14th to 27th November, 2017. Hunar Haats have become a successful mission to provide employment and income generation opportunities with platforms for marketing the products of master artisans, craftsmen and culinary experts belonging to the minority communities.

Hunar Haats are organised by Ministry of Minority Affairs under USTTAD (Upgrading the Skills & Training in Traditional Arts/Crafts for Development) scheme. The USTTAD scheme aims at preserving & promoting the rich heritage of the traditional arts & crafts of the Minority communities.  This is one of the flagship programmes of the Ministry.

Replying to a question on the inspiration behind Hunar Haat, Shri Naqvi said that several traditional arts and crafts were under threat of vanishing due to various reasons, the Hunar Haats are aimed at reviving and preserving this rich heritage. While on one hand Hunar Haats provide a platform to master artisans and craftsmen to display their rich heritage and skill, on the other hand these exhibitions bring both domestic and international markets to the artisans and craftsmen, empowering them with various resources. The National Minority Finance Development Corporation also supports them with financial aid/ loans etc. About 130 artisans from 20 States & Union Territories are participating in this Hunar Haat. 

The artisans have brought with them very exquisite pieces of Handicraft & Handloom work like Cane & Bamboo & Jute Products of Assam; Tussar, Geeja, Matka Silk of Bhagalpur; Traditional Jewellery, Lac Bangles & Jewellery from Rajasthan & Telangana; Kantha Products of West Bengal; Brocades of Varanasi; Lucknawi Chikan Work, Zari Zardozi from U.P; Khurja Ceramic Products; Clay items, Blackstone Pottery, Dry Flowers and Traditional Handicrafts of North-East; Shawls, Carpets & Papier-mache of Kashmir; Ajrakh Print, Mutva, Kutch Embroidery & Bandhej of Gujarat; Batik/Bagh/Maheshwari of Madhya Pradesh; Aplique & Ajrakh of Barmer; Leather Products, Brassware of Moradabad; Kalamkari of Telangana. New products include baskets made from Natural Grass by artisans from Puducherry & UP; Gota patti work from Rajasthan, Mural paintings & Bandhej from Gujarat.

The Minister said that crafts people in thousands are involved in the production of handicrafts on show and for sale in these Mega events/ exhibitions which keeps them employed for several months in a row.  This ensures that there is Development with Dignity for these highly talented and skilled crafts people belonging to the minority communities. 

This Hunar Haat exhibition is unique from earlier exhibitions as for the first time products made by inmates of Delhi’s Tihar Jail are also being showcased and sold which gives them a sense of self-dependency and appreciation. These products include furniture, handlooms, handicrafts, bakery items, hand-prepared oil, organic spices and grain.

This is the fourth Hunar Haat, the first two were held in Delhi and the third in Puducherry.  More than 40 lakh people visited these three Hunar Haats.  It is proposed to hold 10-12 Hunar Haats across the country in one calendar year, starting with Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Bhopal and other places. Besides this, the Ministry is also working to establish “Hunar Hub” in all states where artisans will be provided training and other facilities.

11-Feb-2017: Hunar Haat showcases rich & exquisite skills of Master Artisans

Second edition of “Hunar Haat” is being organized by the Minority Affairs Ministry to encourage, promote and provide national and international market to master artisans/craftsmen belonging to the Minority communities from across the country. With the theme “Craft Aur Cuisine Ka Sangam”, the second “Hunar Haat” is being organized from 11th to 26th February, 2017 at State Emporia Complex, Connaught Place, New Delhi.

Hunar Haat is unique in the sense that it is showcasing crafts and traditional cuisines brought from different parts of the country. “Hunar Haat” is being organized through National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC) under USTTAD (Upgrading the Skills & Training in Traditional Arts/Crafts for Development) scheme of Ministry of Minority Affairs.

A total of 100 artisans and 30 culinary experts from about 24 states and Union Territories are participating at about 130 stalls in the second “Hunar Haat”, which also has “Bawarchikhana” where various cuisine from different parts of the country are being showcased and the visitors can enjoy them.

For the first time in this exhibition very exquisite pieces of Handicraft & Handloom work like Makrana Marble products, Bandhej from Sikar, Mojri from Rajasthan, Banjara Embroidery from Telangana, Handmade Locks & Door Handles along with Phool-Patti works from Aligarh, Cocoon decorated products from Nagaland, Mizoram Traditional Crafts, etc are being showcased and sold.

Different cuisines from 13 states are being brought by culinary experts for this second “Hunar Haat”. Awadhi Mughlai foods from Lucknow, Dal Bati Churma & Thali from Rajasthan, Sandesh & Rasogolla from West Bengal, Malabari food from Kerala, Litti-Chokha of Bihar, Puran-Poli from Maharashtra, Dhokla & Jalebi from Gujarat, Kashmiri Wazwan from J&K, Bhutte Ki Khees, Sabudana-Kheer & Khichri from Madhya Pradesh, etc.

Like the first “Hunar Haat”, which was organized in November last year at Pragati Maidan, the second “Hunar Haat” at Baba Kharak Singh Marg will also showcase rich and beautiful art/skills of master artisans.
