4-Apr-2022: 12th Edition of 7-day cultural extravaganza ‘Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav’ concludes with a grand finale in Hyderabad
Under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav ,the 12th edition of the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav (RSM) concluded with a grand finale in Hyderabad on 3rd April. The festival that was conducted over a period of 7 days started as a two-day event in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh on 26th and 27th March, travelled to Warangal on 29th and 30th of March before culminating with a grand event in Hyderabad on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of April.
The Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav was attended by various dignitaries including Vice President of India Sri Venkaiah Naidu, Governor of Telangana Smt Tamilisai Soundararajan, Governor Sri Biswabhushan Harichandan; Governor of Tamil Nadu, Sri R.N Ravi; Union Minister of Culture, Tourism and DoNER, Sri G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of State for Culture, and Parliamentary Affairs, Sri Arjun Ram Meghwal; Union Minister of State for Culture, and External Affairs Smt Meenakshi Lekhi.
Various artists including Smt Ananda Shankar Jayant, Padmashri awardee; Key Classical Music Performers Sri P. Jaya Bhaskar; Dr. L Subramaniam, along with popular music performers Shankar-Eshaan-Loy took part in the event.
The Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav, the flagship festival of this Ministry, has been organised since 2015 with the active participation of Seven Zonal Culture Centres. The 12th edition of the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav has been instrumental in showcasing and reinforcing the 3Cs of our heritage - Culture, Craft and Cuisine. The RSM has been playing a pivotal role to take the vibrant cultural diversity of India out to the masses instead of confining it to auditoria and galleries.
The festival has been instrumental in presenting folk and tribal art, dance, music, cuisines and culture of one state in other states to achieve the cherished goal of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” and at the same time providing an effective platform to the artists and artisans to support their livelihood. Eleven editions of RSM have been held till date since November, 2015 in various states and cities such as Delhi, Varanasi, Bengaluru, Tawang, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tehri, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal.
This is the first instance of the RSM event in the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and the events saw record attendance in all locations. The event also saw close to 10 Padma Awardees grace the stage either as RSM Brand Ambassadors or as performers and also felicitated eminent citizens from all walks of life.
Stage Performances
At the same time, the folk and tribal art, dance, music, cuisines & culture that are being demonstrated provide an effective platform for the artists and artisans to support their livelihood. Approximately 1000 performing artists, culinary artists and craftsmen exhibited their skills and display India’s rich cultural heritage.
The 12th edition of the RSM assumes even more significance owing to the grand vision and the fact that it was taking place as we are emerging out of the COVID-19 pandemic which has severely impacted the livelihoods of performing artists, especially folk artistes. Through this event the ministry has been able to provide the much-needed support and assistance to the artists from across the country. The RSM provided a platform for the Government of India to partner with local governments in supporting artists from the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh by conducting Shobha Yatras, and organising local performance on stage.
The RSM also provided an opportunity to pay rich tributes to popular artists including but not limited to Ms. Lata Mangeshkar, Bharat Ratna awardee on the occasion of her recent sadgati, Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao, Padmashri awardee and legendary Telugu Music Director on the occasion of his 100th birth anniversary. SP Balasubramanyam, Padma Vibhushan on the occasion of his sadgati in 2020 and Sirivennela Sitarama Shastri, Padmashri awardee on the occasion of his sadgati in 2021.

Craft Stalls and Exhibitions: The various craft stalls set-up were able to showcase the various craft traditions across India. Apart from the craft stalls, there was an exhibition on prominent Telugu freedom fighters set up by the Ministry of Culture and Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB-M/o Information & Broadcasting)), Hyderabad and a painting exhibition of Freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju by the Madeti Rajaji Memorial Art Academy.
2-Apr-2022: Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav 2nd day
India is forging ahead in all fields rigorously and will emerge as the world leader by 2047, said Tamil Nadu Governor Shri R.N. Ravi. Participating in the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav being held here in the capacity of the Chairperson of the South Zone Cultural Centre along with Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and DONER Shri G. Kishan Reddy and Union Minister of State for Culture and Parliamentary Affairs Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Shri Ravi said India is celebrating its 75 years of independence now in the form of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and in the next 25 years, which he described as Amri Kaal, India will emerge as world leader not only as economically but also militarily, spiritually and intellectually. He said the whole world is watching with respect how India is rising.
Describing Prime Minister Modi as a great visionary, the Governor said due to ‘inclusive growth’ policies of the Government, the benefits of the Govt. schemes are reaching to the last man in society. Referring to PM Jan Dhan Yojna, he said more than 450 Million zero balance bank accounts were opened paving the way for providing direct benefit of Govt. schemes to the common man. Even after six and half decades of its Independence ten years back, India was home to larger number of poor, sick and illiterate people in the world. But in 2014 onwards, due to renewed development models of the Govt. and its resolve to ensure ‘healthy citizenship’ in which every citizen gets proper food, shelter, safe drinking water, electricity, health and education, the country has been marching ahead. The number of StartUps in the country has increased from 400 in 2014 to more than 10,000 now, he said.
Saying that India’s culture is very ancient and rich but, Shri Ravi said, the British rulers systematically destroyed it. India now stands on four pillars of –strong economy, knowledge, great spirituality and rich culture, the Governor said. Shri Ravi, accompanied by the two Central Ministers, also visited all stalls set up at the venue of the cultural festival and hoisted national flag. Earlier, Shri Sagi Kamalakara Sharma, a renowned Telugu pandit, performed ‘panchanga sravanam’ on the occasion of Telugu New year Sri Subhkrit nama samvatsaram.

Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Shri G. Kishan Reddy has said that the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav is the flagship festival of the Ministry of Culture which aims to preserve, promote, and popularise the rich cultural heritage of India.
Speaking at the last and final leg of the 12th edition of RSM-2022 at NTR stadium Hyderabad, the Union Minister said that conducting festivals like Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsavs help artists and artisans to demonstrate their craftmanship. This Mahotsav is a big opportunity for traditional performing artists and craftsmen to come under one roof to showcase their talent.
The Union Minister further added that, Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav has been instrumental in showcasing folk and tribal art, dance, music, cuisines and culture of one state in other states reinforcing Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s cherished goal of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” and “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” presenting the rich culture of different states of India.
The Union Minister thanked the Governor of Haryana Shri Bandaru Dattatreya and Hon’ble Vice-president Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu for gracing the occasion.
In his address, the Hon’ble Vice-President of India Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu said that as proud Indians, we are dutybound to celebrate the lives of the freedom fighters who made innumerable sacrifices to free the nation from the clutches of oppressive British rule. He called upon the people to revisit the lives of these great leaders and make youth aware of their inspirational stories.
Addressing the gathering during the inauguration of 12th Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav being organized by the Ministry of Culture in Hyderabad today, the Vice President highlighted the 'twin purpose' of this Mahotsav- one is to remember the sacrifices of freedom fighters, and the second is to promote and preserve rich Indian cultural heritage and art forms. He said that Indian civilization always sought the well-being of all in tune with the spirit of 'Sarvejana Sukhino Bhavantu' and 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'.
Referring to the diversity and richness of cultural art forms in India, he commended the Ministry of Culture for celebrating this diversity through Sanskrit Mahotsav.
Praising the Ministry of Culture for promoting and conserving our rich and diverse cultural heritage, Shri Naidu said that the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav, provides a good opportunity for traditional Performing Artists and Craft persons to come under one roof to showcase their talent. “This festival is a celebration of our glorious cultural heritage and rich art forms that have evolved over millennia, carefully nourished and preserved by our ancestors,” he added.
Observing that the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav is evolving into a platform for performance and exhibition of rare and near extinct art and craft forms, the Vice President opined that this festival will go a long way in making people, especially the younger generation aware of the richness of India’s culture and traditions. He also hoped that the Mahotsav would also enable our artisans to earn their livelihood through sales of artifacts and other traditional wares.
On this occasion, Shri Naidu also inaugurated an exhibition on prominent Telugu freedom fighters set up by the Ministry of Culture and Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB) Hyderabad.

The Union Minister of Culture, Tourism & DoNER Sh. G. Kishan Reddy participated in the ongoing Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav at Warangal today. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Kishan Reddy said Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav has played a significant role in showcasing folk and tribal art, dance, music, cuisines and culture of one state in other states reinforcing PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s cherished goal of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat”, presenting the rich culture of southern states as well as introduce the local population to the varied culture of other parts of India.
Explaining about the rationale behind the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav (RSM), the Minister said that “National Cultural Festival of India was conceptualized by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India in 2015 to celebrate the spirit of Tradition, Culture, Heritage and Diversity of our incredible country. Apart from the broader objective, this Mahotsav aims to preserve, promote and popularize the heritage of Indian Spirit and reconnect the new generation with our culture and to showcase to the country and the world our soft power of unity in diversity”.
Addressing the large gathering of people who had come to witness the cultural extravaganza at Warangal, Sh. Kishan Reddy said that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism is making all efforts to enhance the tourism infrastructure around Ramappa Temple which was recently bestowed with UNESCO World Heritage Site tag. He also promised the renovation of the 1000 pillar temple as per the Kakatiya traditions.
As the International day of Yoga is coming up on the 21st of June, the Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and DONER gave a call to the people to voluntarily come forward and participate in large numbers. He also exhorted the people to hoist national flag on every house on 15th August this year as India is celebrating 75 years of its independence.
Apart from the cultural performances from renowned artists like Padmashri awardee Smt Padmaja Reddy, Vandemataram Srinivas, the day witnessed number of folk art forms from nearly 500 artists from all over the country. As India is celebrating 75 years of its Independence, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, an exhibition on Prominent Telugu freedom fighters has been organised by the Regional Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on the occasion.

27-Mar-2022: First leg of the Mega Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav 2022 concludes
First leg of the Mega festival Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav 2022 organised under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav , at Arts college Ground, RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM, Andhra Pradesh concluded today. The festival was inaugurated by Governor, Andhra Pradesh Shri Biswabhusan Harichandan and Union Minister for Culture , Tourism and DoNER Shri G. K Reddy on 26th March 2022. The festival is being organized for the first time in the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana.
The two days festival being organised at the Arts College Grounds, Rajahmundry on March 26th and 27th was also graced by Shri. Dharmana Krishnadas , Dy CM of Andhra Pradesh, Sri M. Srinivasa Rao, Minister of Tourism and Culture, AP; other prominent Ministers , Sri Margani Bharat, MP, Rajahmundry; Sri M. Mohan Babu, Cine Actor and Former MP; Smt. Jayaprada, Cine Actress and Former MP and Smt. Adi Reddy Bhavani, MLA, Rajahmundry City & other prominent dignitaries.
The Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav had an auspicious beginning with a discourse on Bhagvad Gita by Sri Gangadhar Sastry. On the occasion, the classical Odissi dance performance by Aloka Kanungo & Taal Vadya Kacheri, a musical treat by P. Jaya Bhaskar enthralled the audience while the popular singers Sri S.P. Charan , Smt. S.P. Shailaja ,Sri Vandemataram Srinivas. and Smt. U. Sunita, regaled the gathering with some eternal melodies from the legends of Indian Cinema as a tribute to Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar, Sri Ghantasala, Sri S.P. Balasubramanyam and Sri Sirivennela Sitaram Sastry.

The highlight of the Mahotsav was the choreographed presentation by over 540 Zonal folk artists representing various states of India and 280 folk artists from Andhra Pradesh, who exhibited the spirit of ‘EK Bharat Shrestha Bharat‘ through a colorful cultural extravaganza as the opening acts making the Mahotsav cherishable for a lifetime. Spellbinding performances by drummers from all Zonal Cultural Centers and choreographed folk martial arts by artists drawn from all parts of India on the second day, were the hallmark of the event.
The Mahotsav also saw brisk sale of the handicrafts from the Artisan exhibition stalls set up in the colorful Aangans representing each Zonal Cultural Centre as well as the State of Andhra Pradesh. The public also relished the cuisines, both local & from other states, organised through the Food Festival where 30 cuisine stalls were installed. About 140 artisans from ZCC were showcasing their products in the Aangans while 40 artisans of Andhra also made part with a special Aangan prepared for them.
A one day Literary Seminar on the theme of ‘Godavari Districts Literary & Cultural Heritage’ was also organised by the Adikavi Nannaya University as part of the Mahotsav .
The Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav at Rajahmundry truly showcased the rich heritage of the Southern states and introduced the local population to the varied culture, craft & cuisine of the other parts of India on one platform and place. To ensure maximum participation of the general public the entry was kept free to the Mahotsav.
The second and third leg of RSM will be held at Warangal and Hyderabad on 29th-30th March and 1st-3rd April respectively.
26-Mar-2022: Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav 2022 inaugurated at Rajamahendravaram in Andhra Pradesh today
Under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Mega festival, Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav 2022 was inaugurated in Arts college Ground, RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM, Andhra Pradesh by Governor, Andhra Pradesh Shri Biswabhusan Harichandan in the presence of Union Minister for Culture , Tourism and DoNER Shri G. K Reddy. Several other dignitaries including Sri M. Srinivasa Rao Minister of Tourism and Culture, AP, Minister of State Shri Venugopal Krishna were present on the occasion.
In his inaugural address, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh Shri Biswabhusan Harichandan said Festivals like Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav will further strengthen our culture and traditions. He said that the Union Ministry of Culture was organizing various festivals across the country, which would help in inculcating nationalism among the people of the country. He hailed Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose as one of the nationalist leaders who fostered a sense of nationalism among the people of the country among other brave freedom fighters.

Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav presents a unique opportunity to witness each and every folk, traditional, tribal, classical and popular art forms of India under a single roof where approximately more than 1000 artistes showcase their talent. Colourful Aangans are set up representing regional cultures and showcasing traditional Arts & Crafts where artisans set up their stalls to sell their wares as well as demonstrate their exquisite craftsmanship.
Folk artists perform impromptu throughout the day either on the stage or among the public. The main cultural performance is staged between 5.30pm to 10.30pm.
Apart from Folk troupes eminent Padma & Sangeet Natak Akademi awarded classical artists covering all genres have been performing every year at the Mahotsav. Special care is taken to choose artists reflecting regional flavour of the State where the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav is organised.
1-Mar-2021: The third edition of Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav-2021 at Murshidabad concludes with colourful programs
The third and final edition of the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav-2021 concluded with colourful cultural programmes. The two day Mahotsav was organised by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India from 27th – 28th February 2021 at Murshidabad, West Bengal.
A large number of people attended the closing ceremony and enjoyed the Mahotsav. All the seven Zonal cultural Centres presented the dance performances and made the evening memorable for the audience.
The colourful programs began with captivating performances by local artists, who first sang Baul Gaan, Jaari Gaan, followed by lathi Khela and performances of folk dances Ghoda Naach and Ranapa dances.
After that famous artists performed Rudrakshya Odissi dance, then audience enjoyed the Ghazals of Aditya Saraswat. As soon as Somlata and Da Essence band came on stage, the youth got excited and everyone enjoyed the performance.

The third and final edition of the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav 2021 in West Bengal organized by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India began on 27th February 2021 at Murshidabad, West Bengal. Directors of all the zonal cultural centres of the Ministry of Culture were present during the inauguration of the Mahotsav and lit the ceremonial lamp . The Mahotsav in Murshidabad will run for two days, 27–28 February 2021.
The Mahotsav started with colourful performances by the local artists, which included ‘Baul Gaan’, ‘Alkup Gaan’, ‘Leto gaan’, ‘Jhumuriya’ and Ranpa folk dances. All guests present at the festival and the general audience, were spell – bound by the exemplary performance by the local artists.
The well-known folk band Surojit O Bondhura gave a touching performance. The violin brothers band compelled the audience to dance on their tunes. Mamata Shankar's ballet dance performance was the main attraction of the programme.
Besides the performances of the artists, 70 stalls of handicrafts, paintings, embroidery, and jute crafts etc. also attracted the people.

25-Feb-2021: The three day festival of spectacular cultural performances Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav at Darjeeling concludes
The three day Cultural Festival of the 11thRashtriyaSanskriti Mahostav-2021 at Raj Bhawan, Darjeeling concluded yesterday with a magnificent closing ceremony. Governor of West Bengal, Shri. Jagdeep Dhankhar, Member of Parliament, from Darjeeling and Member of Legislative Assembly were present at the closing ceremony.
On this occasion, the Governor appreciated the efforts of all the officials of Ministry of Culture, artisans, artists & organizers behind this magnificent program arranged at the Raj Bhawan Darjeeling for the first time.
Other than the performances, last day at Darjeeling witnessed people visiting the stalls put-up by craftsmen from the seven Zonal Cultural Centres. Famous Baul singer, Anuttam Das Baul, performed on this occasion. Bodo cultural dance performed by Konkoti Bodo Kristi Afat & Yak dance by Sanyukta Kalakar Manch were also some of the other attractions. Besides this ‘Vividha’ Kathak choreography by Samskritiki Shreyaskar& finale by Mantra, Nepali Rock Band, enthralled the local audience.
There was a huge crowd who witnessed and enjoyed the programme. Visitors toured the craft stalls, interacted with the artisans and shopped several products. The Visitors also enjoyed the creative ambience and took photographs with all the artistic installations.

The festival is being held from 22nd February to 24th February. On this occasion Member of Parliament, Darjeeling Shri. Raju Bista was also present. Speaking on the occasion Shri Patel said, “The unexplored talent of local artists needs to be showcased through a platform and the Central Government has taken this initiative of Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav to showcase the awe-inspiring talent of our artists.” Shri Patel added that RSM gives us a chance to connect with the different arts and cultures of India and represents in Unity in Diversity which epitomises our country.

21-Feb-2021: Second phase of Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav to be celebrated at Darjeeling from 22nd to 24th February
The second phase of the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav will be inaugurated by the Union Minister of State for Culture & Tourism (Independent Charge) Shri Prahlad Singh Patel on 22nd February 2021 at Raj Bhawan in Darjeeling, West Bengal. On second day, there will be a Rabindra Sangeet recital by Sounak Chattopadhyay, a creative dance recital by Saphire Dance troupe, the North eastern band of Daniel Engti and Kamran and the Boyz Band. Last day will begin with Bail songs by Anuttam Baul, followed by Kathak Ballet by Sanskriti Sreyaskar and a dance drama.
On all days local artistes will be given an opportunity to perform on the RSM stage. There will be 20 crafts stalls from all over the country showcasing genuine hand-crafted products.

17-Feb-2021: Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav in Cooch Behar concludes
The three day Cultural Festival of the 11thRashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav in Rajbari of Cooch Behar, West Bengal concluded last evening with programs performed by Dohar, a popular Bengali band, other renowned artists and local troupes .
The Mahotsav organised for the Rajbari, the magnificent palace grounds witnessed performances by renowned artists and musicians; folk artists highlighting the rich cultural diversity. A big draw was singer and music composer Shri Kailash Kher, Kathak dancer Souvik Chakraborty while tabla maestro, Bikram Ghosh performed at the inauguration. Icons from music to classical performers performed during the last three days giving the local people glimpses of the heritage and also be a platform to encourage and preserve the local arts. A handicraft Mela was also held on the occasion.
The festival held in West Bengal was inaugurated by the Governor Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar in the presence of the Minister of State (I/C) Culture, Shri Prahlad Singh Patel on 14th February. This RSM assumes more significance as it is taking place as we are emerging out of the COVID Pandemic which has severely impacted the cultural sector. Through this event the ministry endeavours to provide the much-needed support and assistance to the artists as well as the confidence that cultural functions can be now organized taking into account all necessary precautions.

14-Oct-2019: 10th edition of ‘Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav' inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Governor Shri Lalji Tandon
To Celebrate India’s plural traditions and culture, Under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Matrix, 10th edition of Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav was inaugurated by Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Lalji Tandon in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Ministry of Culture is organizing week long diversified cultural carnival in the cities of Jabalpur, Sagar and Rewa of Madhya Pradesh from 14th to 21st October 2019.
The Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Lalji Tandon appreciated Culture Minister’s far sightedness and efforts of officials of the Ministry to organise this Kala Sangam in a graceful manner. He drew examples from the World culture history and reminded the audience how India has retained its culture even after several invasions and attempts at colonisation, while similar crisis has grounded biggest civilizations. He concluded by saying, ‘The Reason behind Indian Culture being timeless, is because of its foundational belief of ‘Oneness in all’. He congratulated and wished the cultural festival succeeds in its goal of celebrating ‘Unity in Diversity’.
Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism( Independent Charge), Shri Prahlad Singh Patel said, ‘I am delighted that, Madhya Pradesh, being the cultural capital of India is hosting the 10th chapter of the biggest cultural event of the country and a considerable count of craftsmen-artists-culture practitioners of different states of India are coming together at the heart of the country to showcase their art forms, works and exhibitions. He also mentioned that he hopes the age-old and authentic art forms, born at every corner of the country, crosses our national boundaries and reaches to the farthest corner of the world bringing appreciation and honor to the nation. He concluded in the lines of Mahatma Gandhi, ‘ If we are really to do something about the practitioners of Indian Culture and Art today, we need to shift our eyes towards our villages as the richest culture resides there’.
Followed by the inaugural ceremony, unparalleled performances were presented by the 300 artists of the Zonal Culture Centers. Jabalpur audience was also enthralled with the performances of world renowned Pandit Wishwa Mohan Bhatt, Shovna Narayan and Shri Suresh Wadkar.
13-Oct-2019: 10th Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav
The 10th Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav will be inaugurated at Mahakoshal Shaheed trust, Gol Bazaar in the city of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. Ministry of Culture, Government of India is organising the 10th edition of Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav under the Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat initiative in Madhya Pradesh from 14th to 21st October 2019.
Renowned artists like Suresh Wadkar, Pandit Wishwa Mohan Bhatt, Sabri Brothers from Jaipur, Shovna Narayan, Roopkumar and Sonali Rathore, Saroja Vaidyanathan, Vikku Vinayaka Ram, Dr Satinder Sartaj, Anuradha Pal, Geeta Mahalik, Ronu Majumdar, Preeti Patel , Malini Awasthi, Tanushree Shankar and Anuradha Paudwal and many more will be part of this major festival. Local artists under the theme of Mati Ke Lal are also invited to perform on the main stage. The Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav 2019 would showcase all the facets of Indian Culture in different areas and aspects including Artists and Artisans from States/UT's like Assam, Karnataka, Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Manipur, Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, Leh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab and West Bengal etc. will showcase India’s cultural heritage through performances of Arts, Folk Music, Dance, Handicrafts and Cuisines.
Being the flagship and premier festival of Ministry of Culture, Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav was conceived in the year 2015 and after the grand success of the First Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav in November-2015, the Ministry of Culture decided to organize it with an intent to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Country in all its rich and varied dimensions, viz Handicrafts, Cuisine, Painting, Sculpture and Performing Arts-Folk, Tribal, Classical and Contemporary- all in one place. So far, this Ministry has organised 9 RSM’s i.e. 2 each in Delhi and 2 in Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, RSM North East , Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The people of Madhya Pradesh will witness the grandeur of Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav once again in its 10th edition from 14th October, 2019 to 21st October, 2019.
This time the Mahotsav will be organised in the city of Jabalpur during 14 - 15 October, 2019, Sagar from 16 – 17th October, 19 and Rewa from 20 – 21st October, 2019.

11-Mar-2022: Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla addresses Valedictory Function of 3rd edition of National Youth Parliament Festival 2022
Lok Sabha Speaker, Shri Om Birla addressed the valedictory function of the 3rd edition of National Youth Parliament Festival -2022 today in the Central Hall of Parliament, New Delhi today. Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur and Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports, Shri Nishith Pramanik also graced the event. Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports, Smt. Sujata Chaturvedi, Secretary General of Rajya Sabha Shri P. C. Mody, Secretary General of Lok Sabha Shri Utpal Kumar Singh and other officials of the Ministry and Parliament were also present on this occasion. The Lok Sabha Speaker and other dignitaries heard the views of the three young national winners of the Festival.
Addressing the participants, Shri Birla said that National Youth Parliament is an innovative programme to equip youth with the understanding of parliamentary procedures and democratic processes. It also encourages the youth to participate in the process of building New India, Shri Birla observed. Hailing the all-pervasive intellectual capacity and energy of the youth in India, Shri Birla hoped that India’s status as ‘Vishwa Guru’ will get further impetus with their growing stature globally.
Mentioning about the rapid changes around the world, Shri Birla urged the youth to adapt to these changes so that they could prepare themselves accordingly and also take the nation forward. Shri Birla emphasized that as the country is moving forward, the youth with their talent and energy should contribute to development, democracy and strengthening of democratic institutions. The sentiment of ‘Nation First’ should guide them in their every effort, stressed Shri Birla. The Speaker also emphasized that the youth should realize their duties towards the nation and work individually as well as collectively in the direction of larger goal of making India self-reliant.
Expressing concern about the decline in dignity and decorum in legislatures, Shri Birla said that legislatures are forum for debates and discussions and not disruption. The Speaker suggested that there should be wider discussions on bills so that hopes and aspirations of all sections of society could be incorporated in the laws and the legislations effectively. Disruptions during Addresses of President and Governor are not conducive to the parliamentary tradition, said Shri Birla. Emphasizing that public representatives should work diligently to enhance dignity and decorum of the Houses, Shri Birla suggested that the youth should play an important role by way of dialogue with their representatives on this issue.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur expressed the confidence that the future of Indian democracy is indeed bright since the youth are active participants in the affairs of the country, our democracy and its systems. The youth are coming forth with innovations for positive changes, which is an encouraging sign for the country’s democratic future.
Shri Anurag Thakur added that this experience is going to be the memorable moment for the participants which they will cherish throughout their life. Sharing few of his personal experiences, Shri Thakur advised the youth not to limit themselves and should bring their words into action. Shri Thakur further talked about sustainable development goals and mentioned that these topics are mostly discussed by intellectual personalities. However, he was impressed that the youth took up this topic for discussion.
Shri Thakur added that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi started the Clean India Campaign, because of which the face of India has changed globally. The most discussed topic by youth was Nation Building and patriotism, this is what shows, why this youth are chosen for the National Youth Parliament, Union Minister added. Shri Thakur urged the young participants to be good citizens.
Ms. Rageshwari Anjana from Bhopal won the first position, Shri Siddharth Joshi from Dungarpur, Rajasthan got the second position and Ms. Amarpreet Kaur from Bathinda received the third position in National Youth Parliament 2022 national round competition. Shri Om Birla presented awards to the winners of the third edition of National Youth Parliament Festival and conveyed his best wishes to all the participants.
The National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF) is organised to hear the voice of the youth, who will join various careers in coming years, including public services. NYPF is based on the idea given by the Prime Minister in his Mann Ki Baat Address on 31st December, 2017. Taking inspiration from the idea, the 1st edition of NYPF was organised from 12th January to 27th February, 2019 with the theme “Be the Voice of New India and Find solutions and Contribute to Policy”. A total of 88,000 youth participated in the program.
2nd edition of NYPF was organized from 23rd December, 2020 to 12th January, 2022 with the theme “YUVAAH- Utsah Naye Bharat Ka” through virtual mode which was witnessed by more than 23 lakh youth and stakeholders across the country at District, State and National level.
3rd edition of NYPF was launched on 14th February 2022 at District level through virtual mode. More than 2.44 lakh youth across the country participated in the District Youth Parliaments followed by State Youth Parliaments through virtual mode from 23rd – 27th February, 2022. Eighty-Seven (87) winners (62 Female and 25 Male) from States/ UTs get an opportunity to be present in the Central Hall of Parliament before the Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Hon’ble Minister of State of Youth Affairs & Sports and other dignitaries. Twenty-Nine (29) winners of State Youth Parliament (SYP) got an opportunity to speak before the National Jury comprising of Sh. Bhartruhari Mahtab, Member of Parliament Lok Sabha, Dr. Satya Pal Singh, Member of Parliament Lok Sabha, Smt. Anu J Singh, IRS (Retd.) and Sh. Kanchan Gupta, Senior Adviser M/o Information & Broadcasting. The top three National Winners got an opportunity to speak before the Speaker, Lok Sabha during the valedictory function today. Certificates and Awards will be given to 3 final winners at the National level (Cash prizes of INR 2,00,000, INR 150,000, INR 100,000) and Rs. 50,000 for 2 consolation prizes may also be awarded, if any.

Mody and other officials of the Ministry and Parliament were also present on this occasion. Speaker of Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla will address the valedictory function of NYPF on 11th March, 2022. The top three National Winners will also get an opportunity to speak before the Lok Sabha Speaker during the valedictory function.
During his address, Shri Anurag Thakur said, “Theme of this year’s National Youth Parliament Festival is ‘be the voice of New India and find solutions and contribute to Policy’. I urge all of you to focus on championing a cause ranging from solid waste management, eliminating hunger, gender equality, affordable and clean energy, clean water & sanitation. As we mark Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, I also urge you to discuss the progress we have made so far and envisage solutions to transform India when we mark India @ 100 years of independence. What can the youth do in the field of health, sports, media, transportation, infrastructure, foreign affairs that will transform lives for a billion people? What can 1 billion people contribute to the future of humanity and ‘ease of living’?”
Shri Thakur further added that taking forward the ideology of Swami Vivekananda, the National Youth Parliament has played a main role in building leadership qualities among the youth. Youth should use this opportunity to draw inspiration from the ideology of Swami Vivekanand, the Minister urged.
Talking about AatmaNirbhar Bharat Shri Thakur said that while the whole world was struggling during the pandemic, India rose to the occasion and we all worked hand in hand to overcome the situation. With this, we set an example before the world that with right vision and leadership, we can face all adversities. The youth must also imbibe this quality and take the country ahead in a spirit of togetherness to achieve wonders for our nation when we turn 100.
The Minister reiterated that it's the spirit and the participation of the youth through which the foundation of a country is laid, it’s the youth who can take the country and society to a new height, youth are the present of the country as well as they are the bridge between the past and future.
Shri Thakur further added that the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has promoted schemes like Skill India, Khelo India and Fit India which have not only imparted skills to crores of youth but is also laying the foundation of a strong India. The Union Minister also lauded the youth who participated in the various rounds of Youth Parliament and gave best wishes to all the finalists of the 3rd edition of National Youth Parliament Festival 2022.
Smt. Sujata Chaturvedi said that the objective of the National Youth Parliament is to provide a platform to youth to voice their thoughts opinions and dreams for the country and also to publicize the various schemes and activities of the government to the youth in an attractive interactive platform and to inculcate the spirit of democracy through civic engagement and dialogue.
The National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF) is organised to hear the voice of the youth, who will join various careers in coming years, including public services. NYPF is based on the idea given by the Prime Minister in his Mann Ki Baat Address on 31st December, 2017. Taking inspiration from the idea, the 1st edition of NYPF was organised from 12th January to 27th February, 2019 with the theme “Be the Voice of New India and Find solutions and Contribute to Policy”. A total of 88,000 youth participated in the program.
2nd edition of NYPF was organized from 23rd December, 2020 to 12th January, 2022 with the theme “YUVAAH- Utsah Naye Bharat Ka” through virtual mode which was witnessed by more than 23 lakh youth and stakeholders across the country at District, State and National level.
3rd edition of NYPF was launched on 14th February 2022 at District level through virtual mode. More than 2.44 lakh youth across the country participated in the District Youth Parliaments followed by State Youth Parliaments through virtual mode from 23rd – 27th February, 2022. Eighty-Seven (87) winners (62 Female and 25 Male) from States/ UTs get an opportunity to be present in the Central Hall of Parliament before the Hon’ble Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Hon’ble Minister of State of Youth Affairs & Sports and other dignitaries. Twenty-Nine (29) winners of State Youth Parliament (SYP) get an opportunity to speak before the National Jury comprising of Sh. Bhartruhari Mahtab, Member of Parliament Lok Sabha, Dr. Satya Pal Singh, Member of Parliament Lok Sabha, Smt. Anu J Singh, IRS (Retd.) and Sh. Kanchan Gupta, Senior Adviser M/o Information & Broadcasting today. The top three National Winners will also get an opportunity to speak before the Speaker, Lok Sabha during the valedictory function on 11th March 2022. Certificates and Awards will be given to 3 final winners at the National level (Cash prizes of INR 2,00,000, INR 150,000, INR 100,000) and Rs. 50,000 for 2 consolation prize may also be awarded, if any.
12-Jan-2021: PM addresses Valedictory Function of 2nd National Youth Parliament Festival
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi addressed the valedictory function of the second National Youth Parliament Festival today via video conferencing. The Event took place in the Central Hall and the Prime Minister also heard the views of the three young national winners of the Festival. Lok Sabha Speaker, Union Education Minister and Union MoS (I/C) for Youth Affairs & Sports were present on the occasion.
Remembering Swami Vivekananda on his birth anniversary, the Prime Minister remarked that even with the passage of time, impact and influence of Swami Vivekananda remains intact in our national life. His views on nationalism and nation-building and his teaching regarding serving the people and serving the world continue to inspire us. The Prime Minister talked about Swami ji’s contribution to the individual and to Institutions. Individuals came in contact of Swami Vivekananda and created institutions and they in turn created new institution-builders. This started a virtuous cycle of individual development to institution-building and vice versa. This is a huge strength of India as the Prime Minister outline the links between the individual entrepreneurship and great companies. He also asked the youth to take advantage of the flexibility and innovative learning format provided by the recent National Education Policy. We are trying to create an ecosystem in the country, absence of which, often compels the youth to look towards foreign shores, the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister stressed that it was Swami Vivekananda who recognized confident, clear-hearted, fearless and courageous youth as the foundation of the nation. Shri Modi presented the mantras of Swami Vivekananda for youth. For Physical fitness it is ‘Muscles of Iron and Nerves of Steel’; for personality development, it is 'Believe in Yourself'; for leadership and teamwork Swamiji said ‘'Believe in All'.
The Prime Minister, exhorted youth to contribute selflessly and constructively in politics and said that today, honest people are getting the opportunity to serve, changing the old notion of politics as a site of unscrupulous activities. Today Honesty and performance have become the need of the hour. In this context, the Prime Minister dwelled at length on the politics of dynasty. He said corruption has become a burden on the people whose legacy was corruption. He called upon the youth to root out dynastic system. Dynasty politics gives rise to incapability and dictatorship in a democratic setup as such people work towards saving the politics of family and family in politics. “Today, days of winning election by the crutches of a surname are over still this malaise of dynastic politics is far from over…Political dynasty promotes self and family instead of pushing nation first. This is a major cause of social corruption in India”, the Prime Minister said.
Giving Example of the reconstruction work in the aftermath of Bhuj earthquake, the Prime Minister told the youth that the society that learns to make their own path in calamity, writes its own destiny. Therefore, all of 130 crore Indians are writing their own destiny today. The Prime Minister said that each and every, effort, innovation, honest pledge by today’s youth is laying a strong foundation for our future.
27-Feb-2019: Prime Minister confers the National Youth Parliament Festival 2019 awards to the winners
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi conferred the National Youth Parliament Festival 2019 awards to the winners at Vigyan Bhawan. The National Level Finals of National Youth Parliament Festival concluded in New Delhi. The winners from the national level competition were Shweta Umre from Maharashtra (1st Position), Anjanakshi M.S from Karnataka(2nd position) and Mamta Kumari from Bihar (3rd position).
Prime Minister also released an App “Khelo India”, developed by Sports Authority of India, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. The App can be used, besides other things, to locate the sports facilities in the country, their availability, rules of the games and for checking the fitness level of any person.
Youth Parliament, provides a platform to the youth to express their views. Prime Minister has provided full support for the promotion of Sports in the country.
National Youth Parliament Festival 2019 was jointly organised by National Service Scheme (NSS) and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. Youth in the age bracket of 18-25 years were invited to participate in the District, State and National level Youth Parliaments. The National Youth Parliament Festival 2019 was conducted at the District and State levels. The participants for District Youth Parliament, (DYP) were selected through two screening processes i.e. Digital and Walk-in screenings in Nodal Institution in 471 designated districts across the country from 24th to 28th January. The best three speakers selected by a Jury from each District Youth Parliament participated at the State Youth Parliament (SYP). Two best speakers selected from each SYP participated as speakers in the National Youth Parliament (NYP). As many as 28 State Youth Parliaments were held across the country from 5th to 7th February to select 56 final contestants for NYP. More than 50 thousand youth participated through Youth Parliaments at all levels.

Minister of State (I/C) for Youth Affairs and Sports Col Rajyavardhan Rathore (Retd) today launched the National Youth Parliament Festival 2019 here, thereby beginning the celebration of the National Youth Day 2019.
Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, in his Mann Ki Baat address on 31stDecember 2017, had shared his idea of organizing Youth Parliaments for young people in every district of the country. It is to provide a chance to the youth to brainstorm about new India and to find ways and chalk out plans to realize our resolves before 2022. He reiterated his idea to capture the voice of the youth in his address to the youth during the 22nd National Youth Festival on 12th January 2018.
Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports proposes to take the Youth Festival to each district of the country and celebrate it as the “National Youth Parliament Festival”. Organising District Youth Parliaments and taking the festival to the doorsteps of the youth would provide an opportunity to large number of youth of this country to participate.
National Youth Parliament Festival 2019 is organised on the theme of “Be The Voice of New India” and “Find solutions and contribute to policy”. Youth in the age bracket of 18-25 years are invited to participate in the District Youth Parliaments. This is done in order to hear the voice of youth in this age bracket who are allowed to vote but cannot contest in elections. The National Youth Parliament Festival will also encourage the youth to engage with public issues, understand the common man’s point of view, form their opinion and express these in an articulate manner. Relevant and effective voices on the vision of New India would be captured and documented to make these available to policy makers and implementers to take it forward.
The National Youth Parliament Festival 2019 will be conducted at three levels:
- District Youth Parliament (DYP) at the district level. The participants for DYP would be selected through two screening processes i.e. Digital and Walk-in screenings in Nodal Institution in each district.
- State Youth Parliament (SYP) at the State Level.
- National Youth Parliament (NYP) at the National Level.
A maximum of 50 best speakers from the Digital screening and 50 best speakers from Walk-in process, shortlisted by the Screening Committee in each district, will participate in the District Youth Parliaments. The best three speakers selected by a Jury from each District Youth Parliament will participate at the State Youth Parliament. Similarly, the two best speakers selected from each State Youth Parliament will participate as speakers in the National Youth Parliament. The highest scorer from each District in the District Youth Parliament (DYP) will participate in the National Youth Parliament (NYP) as a delegate.
The process is being initiated with effect from today, the 12th of January 2019 and will continue up to 24th February 2019. The National Service Scheme and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan organizations will remain involved at different levels in its conduct and management. The best three speakers at the National Youth Parliament will be awarded Rs. 2 Lakhs, Rs. 1.50 Lakhs and Rs. 1 Lakh respectively by the Prime Minister.
It is expected that more than 50 thousand youth will participate through Youth Parliaments at all levels and the narrative will be strengthened and made more vibrant by their voices and ideas and suggestions.
10-Mar-2022: Farmers across the country are taking benefit of Pusa Krishi Mela
On the second day of the Krishi Vigyan Mela organized by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, thousands of farmers from all over the country took benefit of the Mela. The main theme of the fair is “Self-reliant farmer with technical knowledge”. About 12000 farmers from across the country participated and more than 1100 quintals of Pusa seeds were purchased by the farmers. There were 4 technical sessions on the second day of the fair. In four technical sessions, farmers were informed about Smart agriculture; Natural Farming; Hydroponic and Aeroponic Agriculture for High Productivity; and Agriculture exports for prosperity.
Seeds of three varieties of Basmati rice; Pusa Basmati 1847, Pusa Basmati 1885, Pusa Basmati 1886 are also being distributed to the farmers in the fair so that they can produce seeds of these new varieties themselves. Farmers showed interest in Live demonstration of new crop varieties, demonstration of protected cultivation of vegetables, flowers and in the exhibition and sale of agricultural implements developed by the institutions and private companies. Farmers were quite happy with the sale of improved varieties of seeds and saplings. Apart from this, display and sale of agricultural products and agrochemicals, display and sale of products developed by innovative farmers also attracted the crowd.
More than 100 ICAR Institutes, Krishi Vigyan Kendras and other institutes are showcasing advanced technologies through 225 stalls. On the first day, 12000-15000 farmers from different regions of the country participated in mela and learned about varieties and technologies developed by various divisions of New Delhi, as well as availed live exhibition, different agricultural models and farmer advisory services.
The major attractions of the fair are: Smart/Digital Agriculture, Agri Startups and Farmer Producer Organization (FPO), Organic and Natural Farming, Protected Farming/Hydroponic/Aeroponic/Vertical Farming, Advisory for promotion of Export of Agricultural Products. The fair is showcasing new varieties developed by the institute, while other innovative technologies of IARI, such as the solar powered 'Pusa-Farm Sun Fridge; Pusa Decomposer, Pusa Complete Bio-Fertilizer (unique liquid formulation providing Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium).
On the second day of the Mela, the first session was on "Digital Smart Agriculture" which was presided over by Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management) ICAR. Dr. S. K. Chaudhary. In this session, Mr. Ashish Jangale, (Chairman, Precision Farming, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.) gave a talk on “Automation and Artificial Intelligence for Smart Agriculture”. Mr. Abhishek Burman (CEO, General Aeronautics Pvt. Ltd.) spoke on “Drone technology for better crop health” and Ms. Rashi Verma (Agsmartik Pvt. Ltd.) shared detailed information on the topic “IOTs for Smart Irrigation”.
The second session was on "Protected, Vertical, Hydroponic and Aeroponic Agriculture for High Productivity and Income" which was presided over by DDG (Horticulture Science), ICAR, Dr. A.K. Singh. In this session Padmashree Dr. Brahma Singh, former OSD (Horticulture), Rashtrapati Bhavan and Dr. Pitam Chandra, Ex. Director General (Engineering), ICAR, also participated. In this session, Shri Shivendra Singh (CEO, Barton & Breeze, Gurugram) discussed “Vertical Hydroponic Farming”. Along with this, two progressive farmers Mr. Gaurav Kumar and Mr. Ankit Sharma shared their experience on “Protected Farming Enterprises and Business Model of Hydroponics Farming”.
The third session was on “Promotion of Agriculture Exports for Prosperity” which was presided over by Dr. Tarun Bajaj, Director, APEDA. In this session, Mr. Nadeem Siddiqui (Exporter, Amroha, Uttar Pradesh) talked on the topic “Export of Mango: Opportunities and Challenges” and Mr. Vipin Gupta (Chairman, Alpha Milk Foods, Karnal) gave his insights on “Tapping the potential of dairy exports from India”. Shri Vinod Kaul (Executive Director, All India Rice Exporters Association) shared information on the topic “Prospects in Export of Basmati Rice from India” and Dr. Ritesh Sharma (Basmati Export Development Foundation) discussed “Challenges and Prospects in Basmati Export”.
The fourth session was on “Organic and Natural Farming” which was chaired by Additional Commissioner (Agriculture Extension & INM), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Dr. Y.R. Meena. In this session, Mr. Ashok Kumar Yadav (Former Director, National Center for Organic Farming, Ghaziabad) shared his experience on 'Certification of Organic Farming through Participatory Guarantee System (PGS)' and Dr. Riba Abraham (Assistant General Manager, Organic Products, APEDA, New Delhi) discussed 'Third Party Certification in Organic Farming'. In this session, Padma Shri Bharat Bhushan Tyagi, Progressive Farmer, Bulandshahr (UP) and Shri Shyam Bihari Gupta, Progressive Farmer, Jhansi, (U.P.) shared their experiences with all the farmers and scientists.
