Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021 were presented to 102 artists.

Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar

The Sangeet Natak Akademi has established the "Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar" in 2006 to recognize exceptional talent in music, dance, and drama among young artists under the age of 40. The award is presented annually, and no more than 33 individuals will receive it each year.

Candidates may be considered for the Yuva Puraskar in one of five categories, including

  1. Music
  2. Dance
  3. Theatre
  4. Traditional/Folk/Tribal Dance/Music/Theatre and Puppetry, and
  5. Contribution/Scholarship in Performing Arts.

Prize money - Rs. 25,000, an Angavastram and a Tamrapatra.

Eligibility

  • Open to Indian nationals up to 40 years of age.
  • Not given posthumously.
  • Previous recipients are not eligible.
  • The recipient's age will be calculated based on April 1 of the year of nomination.

Nominations can be made by:

  • Akademi Ratna Sadasya and Awardees.
  • Members of the General Council.
  • Chairman/Presidents of State Akademies.
  • Secretaries of Culture in States/Union Territories.
  • Heads of Performing Arts Departments in Universities.
  • Experts in the field.

Chairman of the Akademi may propose or recommend new names should the need arise in any specific field or area where suitable nominations have not been made or recommended within the specified date.
