The Genesis Prize was founded in 2012 as a US$1 million award given annually to Jewish people who have attained recognition and excellence in their fields.

The prize was founded with the objective of inspiring and developing a sense of pride and belonging among young unaffiliated Jews throughout the world.

26-Jan-2019: President Kovind presents Kirti Chakra to Major Tushar Gauba

Major Tushar Gauba belongs to 20th Battalion, Jat Regiment. He displayed unparalleled bravery, conspicuous gallantry under heavy terrorist fire and swift action to save his comrades, and eliminated three hardcore terrorists across LoC in Kupwara, J&K.

26-Jan-2018: Major Vijayant Bist Awarded Kirti Chakra

On 06 June 2017, leading an ambush in Chorgali Forest of Uri district of Jammu and Kashmir, Major Vijayant spotted infiltration and immediately engaged them. In the intense firefight, some terrorists infiltrated into Goalta forest. On the next day morning, he tracked those two terrorists and eliminated them, saving the life of one comrade under heavy volume of fire and gallantly leading his men in neutralizing three more terrorists. For this brave act, Major Vijayant is awarded with “KIRTI CHAKRA”.

15-Aug-2017: David Manlun Awarded Kirti Chakra Posthumously

Major Manlun was martyred during an encounter with militants in Mon district of Nagaland on June 6. Major Manlun of the 164 Brigade of the Territorial Army and three militants belonging to NSCN(K) and Ulfa(I) were killed during an encounter at remote Lappa, close to the Myanmar border.

21-Mar-2017: Maj. Rohit Suri awarded Kirti Chakra

Maj. Rohit Suri was awarded Kirti Chakra during the military investiture ceremony held in the Durbar Hall of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Kirti Chakra is the second highest peacetime gallantry award.

Major Rohit Suri, who was part of the surgical strikes last year. He was the mission leader of the team which was tasked to carry out operations against terrorist’s hideout in J&K. He led the team of the Army’s 4 Para Special Forces which conducted surgical strikes on terrorist camps along the LoC.

Earlier, the President of India,  Shri Pranab Mukherjee had approved the award of 2 Kirti Chakras to the Indian Army personnel on the occasion of Republic Day 2017.

The other hero, Shri Prem Bahadur Resmi Magar, 3/1 GORKHA RIF, was awarded posthumously.

Lance Naik Hanamanthappa Koppad, who died after he was miraculously rescued alive from beneath tonnes of snow following an avalanche that hit his post in Siachen Glacier, was awarded the Sena Medal on Army Day.

Lance Naik Hanamanthappa's wife, Mahadevi, received the medal from Army Chief General Bipin Rawat.
